The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) (Turkish: Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti, KKTC), commonly called North Cyprus, is a de facto independent republic recognized only by Turkey that is located in the north of Cyprus. The TRNC declared its independence in 1983，this unilateral declaration of independence was rejected by the UN and the Republic of Cyprus. The presence of the mainland Turkish military in Cyprus is highly controversial, having been denounced as an illegal occupation force by the Republic of Cyprus government. Several United Nations Security Council resolutions have called on the Turkish forces to withdraw, though failed Annan Plan of 2004 allowed for some troops to remain.
Last year when an occasional chance during my business travel to Turkey, I went to North Cyprus. It’s a quite beautiful island located in the Mediterranean Sea, even though the military restrict areas and the dense wire netting existed everywhere, the complicated political and ethical relations still couldn’t preventing people to yearn towards the peace and beauty of life.
Anyhow, it’s still the paradise of resort.
