Not a professional but still trying my best

It's been a while since I’ve posted here in the blog; I’ve been busy with life, work and family. As much as I love taking pictures its still only a hobby for me, something I do to relax and have fun. I started here for the criticism, to see if my images were good enough to be included here and to my surprise I’ve even had quite a few sales.

Sailboat cruising through Old San Juan Bay

Still, I know I have a lot to learn. I took these images while walking around the bay of Old San Juan, the capital city of Puerto Rico, where I live. I recently learned that I should try to match my camera shutter speed to the equivalent of my focal length, something I had never done before; it made a world of difference shooting with longer lenses.

Tugboat towing out on the sea

It may be something obvious to most people here; many of you are amazing and experienced photographers and I enjoy watching your images so much. I’ve been taking photos for years, I’ve done a few weddings and all; yet, I don’t feel I can claim to be a professional photographer, just a very lucky amateur.

Still, there’s something wonderful about seeing my images come to life after a day of shooting, a sense of wonder that makes me so happy every time I go out to shoot.

Pigeons perched on a watch point

I don’t think there was a concise point I wanted to make with this post; I’m just happy I get to do this every once in a while, and I wanted to share that with everybody here.

Like a lot of people, I'm stuck at a desk most days and can't get away much, but we can "travel the world" through photos and blogs. Thanks for taking us to Puerto Rico today!!! It looks lovely.
