Off Camera Flash for outstanding images!

Something I've added to my use with flash is OFC, or off camera flash. I learned about it from a great site called Strobist.com and the idea is very simple and easy to use with outstanding results!

It allows me to shoot stright into the sun if I like creating a wonderful natural backlight and creating a more three dimensional look to my images. Have your flash set-up to fire off camera on a tripod or pole, an extra helper helps alot in this but it's not necessary, a tripod will work great too. Meter for the background, set flash speed to 250, take a test shot. Too hot, back off with the flash, too dark? step forward with the flash and voila! Great images with more flexibility and brilliant blue skies!

Afagundes, it seems difficult but honestly, once you try it it's really quite simple and definetly worth the results! On Flickr there are several Strobists sites and one of my favorite wedding photographers uses it all the time, James Rubio. Check him out, on many of his images he says where he placed the flash, it's a good way to learn!

Very nice! Thanks for the helpful advice:) I have an extra tripod, so I will definitely give it a try. (I too am just starting to learn about off camera flash.)

Very nice tip, I am just starting to work with OFC, not yet comfortable with it, but I will learn, eventually.

Ok I see, that is why? I was reading the flashgun book and I could not find it. Lol. Lately I 'm having problems with sharp images they're a bit blurry at 100%. Anyway Thanks to get back to me.
I love that yoga one!! well executed!!

Jonvatalija, I meant 250 shutter speed on my camera settings not my flash. However, you can even play with that too and use a lower shutter speed:)
