In preparation for the long cold winter months I have been on a bit of a spending spree to helo me produce new content over winter and my first purchase was a light cube, I had been using an array of stuff to get a studio type shot. Including glasses, clothes pegs bits of paper and the top of a fridge freezer to get some shots against a white back ground.
I wanted to be able to have a little more control and something a little more sturdy so that I could work on some different idea but I was was spending so much time setting things up and I was still struggling to get the shot. So I gbought a cheap 60cm collapsable light cube from Amazon and thought I would give it a try. The thing is not perfect but it is light years better than what I was using before and this was the first shot I got out of it and to be honest I had tried this photograph numerous times before but could not get it right.
Winter for me is a time for relaxing and eating and enjoying the fruits of my labour! I consider myself to be a good cook creating tasty food from around the world but it invariably aint all that pretty to look at so I am planning on trying to do lots of food shots just to justify the amount I plan on eating ;) I am sure my wife will be happy that I will be playing in the kitchen a lot but not necessarily happy that her food may be luke warm by the time I have finished taking photographs ;)
All in all I am really happy with what I have been able to produce from my light tent so far, I still need to work a little on lighting to reduce the PP that comes out of it afterwards particularly with white on white which is a monster challenge. But for 25GBP I cannot not complain and have a feeling that this is one investment that will pay for itself really rather quickly!
