It's a Boy Shouts the RCMP Officer

Not sure how many hours Kate was in labour but I sat for 5 and half hours on the sidewalk awaiting her arrival on Parliament Hill in Ottawa on Canada Day.

Thank heavens it was a beautiful day with no humidity and not a cloud in the sky. I got there at 6:30 a.m. scouted around for what I thought would be the best spot. They had fenced in an area where she would be descending from the carriage and walking up to her seat, but being a bit claustrophobic I choose the entrance where the carriage was to arrive. So I thought.

After trying to get information out of the RCMP as to which entrance the carriage would come in through, and they would not commit, I picked my spot and hoped it was the right entrance.

I had picked the right entrance; it was noon the sun a blazing and the crowds were shouting and clapping ….they were coming. I was getting nervous as I only had about 60 seconds to get an image. Will I shake? I could not have a tripod in this crowd, hand held only…quickly I held up my camera ……click click click…that’s it out of sight now. Did I get the images in focus? Quickly I looked at the back of my camera….I was so happy to see these images in focus.
