Honesty

We move along and take pictures, as amateurs and professionals. Some enjoy the moment, while giving the content within the frame much thought, and others do it as a habit and such has currently become a trend.Acting and believing the act, that's what photo making seems to be heading towards. The largest growing hobby due to ease of reach to equipment and their complementary enhancements ... now everyone is a photographer; how do i know i'm good at it? well i get likes and shares :). A photo with... continue reading

Editorial and RAW Images are profitable

I was so delightfully surprised when I checked my Dreamstime account to see that my balance had jumped up by $18.98. I was further surprised that it was the purchase of one of my editorial images.I turned to my friend and thanked her for her guidance long ago when I first started uploading photos on Dreamstime. We were at the Los Angeles County Fair, and I was in possession of my little Lumix camera.Feeling a bit challenged with the prospect of trying to take commercial photos at the Fair,... continue reading

HAPPY EASTER, everybody! And please, take care of your rabbits models!

This year's celebration of Easter has begun and so, I wish you all to have a Happy Easter,  together with the people and the animals you hold dear.  And since the Easter is associated in many parts of the world with the rabbit, I think it is a good moment to talk about something that has been on my mind for some time. In the short time I've spent as a photographer on Dreamstime, I did a lot of browsing through the photos in the database and I saw many beautiful rabbit photos and also... continue reading

The useless Primadona

As it happens among birds, in most cases the males look simply much more spectacular than the females which has an easy explanation. Males (not only among birds..) often pass their time, specially before the reproductive season, dedicated to an exhibition of their beauty in feathers and colours and also of a capacity of ridiculous behaviour which exceeds by far other animal groups.Female birds have more important and useful things to do like choosing the less useless male among others, laying eggs... continue reading

Ten a day

I am pleased to say I have reached a milestone of 2,611 images on dreamstime, and as many of us know, it is not easy! We may have the best of intentions, be the best photographer, work hard, chain ourselves to the computer, but so many of us also have family and other jobs and duties to attend to.So besides taking the photos in the first place, we then have to download, sort, run through lightroom, play in photo shop, edit some more, touch up, upload, check at 100% for focus, then keyword! PHEW!... continue reading

Improve Your Skills with a Photo-A-Day Project

The common advice for new and aspiring photographers is to take as many photographs as you possibly can – every day of the week if possible. For many, that means starting on a photo-a-day or 365 project. This is wonderful advice, but I don't necessarily believe that it is limited to beginners only. Even professionals can benefit from something like a photo-a-day project. Especially professionals, since I think that the tendency to become involved in the business side of photography means that... continue reading

What’s up with a Musky with a Duck in its Mouth?

One beautiful summer day, I was walking around the band shell on Lake Harriett which is just south of Minneapolis. I was taking pictures of some flowers on the south side of the band shell when there was a splash in the water behind me and some guy said, “He got it!” I thought to myself, “He got what? What is going on?” I turned around and there in the water about twenty feet away was a big musky with a half grown mallard duck in the fish’s mouth. The musky was trying to pull the... continue reading
