A 1.8 35mm Lens Changed My Life

For many years I used an 18-200mm Nikon zoom lens on my Nikon DX DSLR. While the results were acceptable I received more refusals from Photo Stock Libraries than I expected due to lack of sharp focus. I just assumed this DX lens was sharp but then I read an article saying it was not.So I purchased a Nikon DX 1.8 35mm fixed lens for just a few hundred dollars and what a difference! All my shots are super sharp and my refusals have reduced to almost zero.It does mean I have had to change my... continue reading

Harbour marina and the Sigma 24-70 f2.8

Well my Sigma 24-70 f2.8 came and I was super excited to put it through it's paces.I bought it second hand as the Canon 24-70 f2.8 is still a little above my fireplace.So...early early on a Sunday morning I got up and headed out to the marina after having to get written permission from the yacht club and also the governing body of the harbour. That took me a full hour on the Friday.Make a note that when you do go to the harbour to make sure that you have permission to do so.... continue reading

Traveling with the Canon 50mm 1.8|| (no zoom)

I would like to share something.... More then one year ago I traveled with some friends across Tanzania, Africa. I knew that this trip could get me a lot of nice images. However, I was affraid to take all my expensive camera equipment with me. This because people in Tanzania are not that rich compared to the country I live in, and I didn't want to give the people the motive to rob me or something like that. So I decided to only take my Canon EOS 400D body and the 50mm 1.8|| lens with me. Most Canon... continue reading
