Twenty Minutes With A Drug Addict

When I am not running around taking pictures of everything in site, I drive a transit bus. When we are out on the road we meet all kinds of people from all walks of life. This is the story of one of those encounters in November 2014  I was driving into a beautiful fall sunset, the sky was a stunning mixture of winter-like blues and grays with a bright splash of yellow on the horizon. I pulled my bus into the stop. She was wearing a bulky plaid jacket, bulky because there were several sweaters... continue reading

Origin Stories

Until a few months ago I didn't know (or care) much about photography at all.I'd heard terms such as aperture, white balance, depth of field and what not, but had little more than a vague understanding of what they meant.Shooting holiday snaps with a point and shoot, these terms hardly applied to me.Photography was just a matter of pointing a camera at something, pressing the button halfway then pushing down again.Point.Shoot.Voila, there's a photo. It's vaguely in focus, now where's... continue reading

Dreamstime, learning by the day!

I used to be a below average photographer with many photo's taken in a way the average tourist would take.Full of convidence you start to create an account and look around the site, and learn that there is quite some room for improvement. After my first uploads at DT, where obviously also pictures got rejected, I started to feel hungry to improve further. Now I have more pictures online, some of which are really nice and July actually brought me my first sale! The addiction of Dreamstime is taking... continue reading

Kids and video games addictions

I was wondering today if through Dreamstime I might make a bad situation better.I was pondering the thought that many others might have the same issues as I do as a parent, and if video game addiction might be a source of sales for stock photos. My 16yo is totally addicted to a game called World of Warcraft. It has taken over and ruined most of his life. He refuses to discuss it, has been absent on many occassions from school, he steals, and lies to feed this addiction. For me it has been... continue reading
