Take advantage the sun to eliminate noise

One of the assertions seem obvious and trivial, but the simple truth. The sun helps eliminate noise. But let's start with order. When one enters the world of Microstock, especially at the beginning, we have some confused ideas about the kind of photo to be developed to try to have at least some sales. And especially in the beginning, usually do not have access to mass media for picture perfect technically and aesthetically. However, the photos are all the rage these are referred to as... continue reading

More exclusive images

In August I have decided to take a step toward offering more exclusive images in Dreamstime. The reason? The fair treatment they give to us contributors (not to mention the friendly personal and kind replies you get when contacting support) and the fact that the DT ranking by images make it a perfect way to give a boost to your earnings, with some exclusives'top sellers'.My intention is to increase the exclusive images percentage because the results are encouraging. Of course, to have some success,... continue reading

wisdom behind rejecting too many

Those of you who has followed my blog will know that most recently I have attained my first Level 3 image . This is the one shown here aside .I also noticed that as the Level increases, the earning for each download increases accordingly. An XS which used to be 1 credit, jumps to 3 , then to 5 ,etc..This may seem unimportant to those who are selling a lot here and there via quantity portfolio. But for someone like myself, who is unable to mass produce stock photos, due to the lack of time... continue reading

Taking Advantage Of Analytic Tools

Are you taking advantage of all analytic tools what Dreamstime offers?Today I rediscovered a tool which existence I had forgot. On uploads area there's a little link Download excel archive. You can find it on statistics page as well. That Excel archive contains all your uploaded files and shows totals about downloads, views and revenue per image. It's a really great research tool. You can analyze which topics sell, which don't. Which images have not viewed, which might need new keywords.... continue reading

More advantage of donating free images

Hi, Friends.I already wrote about my experiments with free images in this articleand since then I moved a bit further ;) - donated few more pictures and noticed that most of my new sales became n/a, many of which were the pictures showed when viewing the free ones. So, recently the time for this imagecame to become free. The reason - I found a better way to process it and now preparing a new version (probably not for this stock - risk of too many of the same is high, but at least for myself... continue reading

Being DT

I have been a member now for about 5 months. Its been fun... I still have no idea what DT wants in terms of stock and what they will reject. I have submitted pictures that I was certain would be of great interest, only to be rejected and have also had the reverse happen also.I do have a small beef with that only because I worked in creating and archiving stock shots for many years and thought I had a good idea on what would be useful. I have to admit though that my potenial audience is small and... continue reading

Next level , my second image... advantage?

Today I have a tiny earning for my editorial image (see insert)This brings the download count to 5. If I am not mistaken that will mean this image goes up to the next level. So far, I have only one earlier image (ie. isolated of baby hedgehog)that succeeded going up to the next level.I am wondering if there is any benefit to this?I am sure many of you here have lots of images ascending to the next level after 5 downloads. Do you find that it gives you any benefit to your portfolio?... continue reading
