FEED YOUR IDEAS WATCHING MOVIES

I think it´s important to watch some interesting movies that were dominated to oscar to the best photography beucause there we can notice some special play of light and colors that we can recreate later to our own way and add a little of our art and imagination then we can have a special and important image for our clients...I recommeed to watch this beautiful movie with a pen and notebook on your knees to can write it down the most important moment to catch it later like a picture.. continue reading

Thinking ahead

Winter is not over yet but I like creative makers we should think for the next period. Spring comes earlier than we expect in the day of lovers. Shops are full of gorgeous illustrations with motivmy love hearts and flowers. For me it is very important this year.  With my girlfriend we are right to say that this day together try to be more than friends. This day is therefore also a great motivation to create something transmitted.   But of course, something of which I show in store aha I've been... continue reading

Steep Road Ahead

In the beginning of April of 2014 I made the decision to try making money with my photography. I had always gotten many complements on the various social medium, so I wanted to see if anyone wanted to put money into it.I attempted to apply my content to the three largest stock sites, and Dreamstime was one of them. I was pretty excited within one of my first uploads I got my first sale within a few days. So I made a larger effort to upload more of my content. While my other sales begin to expand... continue reading

How to get ahead in stock photography

Like a few others here, I'm skeptical of the benefit of using social media to promote your stock photography. While there may be some benefit, one has to also consider the opportunity cost. How much time spent on social media could be spent on producing more images? In any case, there is one aspect of social media that I think is invaluable to the stock photographer - and that is blogging! But not necessarily for any exposure it might get you, but rather just the act of trying to illustrate... continue reading

Thinking ahead...Halloween, Thanksgiving and even Christmas?

It seems like the summer season has just begun - cookouts, swimming, hiking, theme parks, gardening, vacations and just relaxing.Summer is here perhaps in our reality but for designers most are already working on fall and winter themes. One tip off was a recent trip to a craft store this past weekend found that they had Thanksgiving fabric and craft supplies out already! Now when do you think those products were designed?Probably a year and half before their intended use. Some recent sales... continue reading

Tip - Think Ahead

As I'm writing this, Thanksgiving is one week away, I've been raking leaves, chopping wood and thinking all of the cool photography equipment Santa could bring me for Christmas. In fact a lot of my recent uploads to Dreamstime have been Christmas and winter images like this one of falling snowflakes:But most designers and stock image buyers are not thinking about next month, they are thinking four to six months down the road.I used towork for BYTE magazine which was a monthly magazine... continue reading

Flu Season Ahead

The Flu season comes along almost as predictable as fall, spring, and summer.Although we are paying much closer attention to this year than most. The H1N1 has the potential to be a different kind of beast. Some say it's over rated and some say it will be a world wide event. One of the reasons we watch this so close is because this type of event has happened before with devastating results. The Spanish Flu in 1918 killed millions of people and spread accross the planet in mind boggling... continue reading

Happy Valentine's Day and Spring Ahead

Mine was sweet this morning!I reached 1200 UL's with a picture of my grandson having a relaxing moment.Spring is almost here in my area and we've been having some temps 15 degrees higher than normal lately; this right after an ice storm. It made me go digging into the "vault" to pull out a few summer photos from last year to get into the mood for the warmer weather.Don't you love it when you discover an unused shot that works?Well, thanks DT, for the gift! It's almost as good as that ipod... continue reading

Planning ahead

Some days it seems as though I can't come up with a single idea. When that happens, I end up just sitting around feeling frustrated because I really want to be taking photos and uploading. I browse the forums and check my stats a zillion times...which adds to the frustration because my number of downloads doesn't change much during a day. What to do? This evening I was curious to see just how much competition some of my existing photos have. Not surprisingly, there seems to be a correlation between... continue reading
