Goal no. 2! And approval rate increases...

My second Goal with this image: the n. 10 in my portfolio. After I realized and learnt how to take approvable photos, I also decided to upload only exclusive images in DT. I find Dreamstime gives a chance to new photographers in a perfect way. They are attentive and care for your images in fashion way: they will explain perfectly the reasons of each refusal, giving also a "learning lesson" on how to submit better pictures the next time you try to take a shot for stock photography. Never on other... continue reading

Up and away, keys to success on Dreamstime.

Been on Dreamstime a few years now and I can say there's no magic formula to selling images, in other words sales don't explode by reaching any certain approval rating or having a certain amount of images in your portfolio, I believe that the 80% approval rating sales kicker has been debunked numerous times. It's all about the image itself how rare, unique or useful is it?, next is quality, how gifted are you at creativity? and what is your skill level in editing software?, these are keys to success.... continue reading

SHOOTING EDITORIALS IN RAW. MY EXPERIENCE

I shoot many editorials, and I used RAW format very rare for that, due to several reasons. My logic was that I need to shoot many pictures of the same event, so I would have many photos and JPG format suits better for than because files are smaller. Another reason was that people normally shoot RAW because they do a lot of editing which is very limited with regard to editorial photos.Last week in Moscow was full of events related to 70th anniversary of Victory Day celebrations in 1941-1945... continue reading

My approval rate is growing

Finally I reached a approval rate of > 90% in Q4-2014. It feel so good, to see that the quality of my photographs are improving. Next goal is to reach more sales and upload more frequent photographs. continue reading

New member

A few weeks ago I suggested a co-worker to join DT.We both share a passion for photography and we often talk about it during our lunch breaks, I explained how it was fun to have people purchase picture that I had taken and see them used as visualization and complementing news, text or documents. Today I was pleased to see that she got her first set of approved images. Please join me in welcoming user Kathmir to the DT family. Wishing her many years of great success. continue reading

How was your ??

Hi,I guess all of you encountered this subject on the "day dreaming" sectionin the message board. Usually what you'll see over there are some happy contributors and some disappointed. A short story of my previous month's performance and this current can give you some perspective and hope.Last month I had 18 sales, it's a bit higher than my monthly average (indeed a number I hope to increase). The real problem was the average revenue. As all but 2 sales were subs my RPD was 0.58$. You must... continue reading

First assignment approvals!

I'm so happy. I have not only one, but two approved photos in the new assignment. While I really have no expectations to win, the exposure is nice, and the confirmation that at least 2 out of my 133 approved images so far hold a quality good enough to sometimes be featured on the front page. What I like the most is how this has forced me to exit my comfort zone (dogs) and actually try drastically new things. For a starter, that selfie really is me and I hate being on the "wrong" side... continue reading

100th Approval!

I have achieved what seemed to me an impossible goal, 100 images online. This stock photography business is a challenging thing - not only am I concerned with the number of photos I have approved, but a challenge to myself to constantly better my technique. And along with that, the constant need for new and fresh ideas, even when I am feeling completely uninspired. So here I am, celebrating this small yet momentous occasion, and looking forward to reaching 200! continue reading
