Startrails for the assignment

Hello to allThis is the third time I write, today I would like to show you some night-time scatades ad hoc for the assignment.I did not do many photos at night but this competition pushed me to experiment again.Nature fascinates me, a starry sky can dodge different emotions but in my opinion a startrail arouses a single emotion: wonder. The star trail is a photographic technique that utilizes long-exposure times to capture the apparent motion of stars in the night sky due to the rotation of... continue reading

200 Uploads and Counting

It took me six months to upload the last 100 photos, and not for a lack of images. I have thousands of photos taken in the last five years; at least some of them are good stock material. But the only way that those photos will get on Dreamstime is to consistently upload. My strategy now is to go through my archives chronologically, mixing it up with some current content.   I had a chance to attend the Press Preview for the opening of The Met Breuer Museum last March, affording me the opportunity... continue reading

I guess where all moving forward step by step in this is just a small step in my development. The pic itself is not so special. I have never had a lot of luck with assignments but this time had two images approved towards the end of the submission period.I saw two pictures of Venice already approved and thenlooked back at my pictures taken last Summer in Venice found a choice of gondolas with holidaymakers taking a trip and also a wood carvers studio taken in the Italian Alps at Cortina so submitted two images which were approved. Normally I thinkthey would have been ineligible without model / property releases.... continue reading

Editing can be hard - getting a second opinion can help

From time to time I enter the various assignment contests here, usually adding anywhere from one to a handful of photos. Much of the time, they are rejected because the editors were looking for "something a little more elaborate." A couple have made it, but my track record is such that I only enter with some trepidation. Then came the smartphone assignment contest. I've been using my iPhone a lot and absolutely love having a camera with me all the time. I sometimes use it to take a few photos even... continue reading
