A Walk in the Wetlands, King's Billabong, Australia.

Last weekend was sunny and still. Quite a contrast to the weather experienced this week! What better way to spend the morning than to take a walk around the wetlands of King's Billabong. Where is that you may ask. The outskirts of Mildura, near Nichols Point on the Murray River, the top of Victoria, Australia. The bush tracks led me to secluded areas of golden reeds growing in shallow waters lapping the edge of the billabong. Bushy topped grey/green gums stood tall along the bush tracks. A variety... continue reading

My first assignment picture!

Wow! Today my image has been approved for "assignments"!!. I'm very happy because, this is the first time for me!So I would like to tell something more about that picture:The rider dressed as Native American, with a gun in his hand, takes part in a commemoration of Old West organized by the "Butteri" of the Tuscan Maremma in Italy.Tireless guardians of the herds and custodians of traditions of Tuscany “Maremma”:this is the main task of “Butteri”, the cowboys of the coastof... continue reading

Custom Cars

I recently went to a custom car and rockabilly event. I took my camera to try and get a few photos to upload here as I thought it would be a great opportunity even if they are to be sold as editorial.I tried uploading a few but only got one approved after resubmitting, there was not enough information in the description. The others had technical problems. So I still have a lot of learning to do but at least I now know what is required for the editorial description. so something positive. continue reading

Found one of my pics on the net

Last night I was hunting around on the internet for more birding spots in and around Cape Town when I clicked on a site and started to read about it.But..hello!!...this pic looks familiar :-).It was one of my pics of an Africa Spoonbill which was downloaded from DT.It would have been even better if some credit was at least given for the pic.I suppose they don't have to do that. continue reading

The Art of Money

Well I have always enjoyed the look of money from around the world.I find it very interesting how each country is so very different when it comes to their currency. All the sizes and the different colors. Some countries put holes in the center of coins others leave them fully intact.Every country has different size bills except the United States, which I also find interesting. The effort put into the design of a single bill or coin is just amazon when you watch the process and design.I have... continue reading

When you can’t afford a real billboard

Scrolling through a billboard company’s website I was astounded at the price of hiring a bit of space to advertise a product. Installation alone was $1000 and that did not include the artwork!A lonely old road in the back of nowhere at around 6 metres by 3 metres of space would then set you back $1500 a month. And if you wanted something near the traffic in a city be prepared to dig deep to find $20,000 each month. Ouch! The Haka Beer campaign in Australia cost $75,000 over 8 weeks. The company... continue reading

For USA Copyright Holders-Orphan Works Bill

Orphan Works Bill...Call your Senators and Congress person to ask them to vote no on both the House ofRepresentatives bill and the Senate bill. Both bills are way too broad and seriously limit an artist's right to protect their own work. Even the House bill, which is being touted as the better bill, puts the onus on the artist to register their images twice, with the Copyright Office and with a newly developed Orphan Works registry, in order to not be considered an Orphan or "abandoned" Work.... continue reading
