In front of our nose

When I began uploading my first photos at Dreamstime (that was in 2010) I was not yet understanding what makes an image capable of being sold. My idea was to shoot as many different animal species as possible and the more rare and unknown the better.I confused DT with a scientific magazine. With time I realized that buyers are most often not biologists or wildlife experts ( much as there are exceptions because I have sold pics where the search aimed clearly for a specific species, but this is... continue reading

When the sky is not silent

Sky. Usually we don't notice it because it is over my head. Detects when very tired and climb up look, and lo and behold. Above us the endless blue and clean, and fancy shape dazzling white clouds, always floating somewhere.          Sometimes the sky itself reminds of itself. Gather dark blue storm clouds, the sky begins to sparkle, a loud thunder and pouring water. Then it is terrible.          Beautiful sky at sunrise or sunset, a colorful and picturesque. From bright... continue reading

Covering an area of 43,400 ha and including over 1600 islands and islets, most of which are uninhabitated and unaffected by humans, it forms a spectacular seascape of limestone pillars and is an ideal model of a mature Karst landscape developed during a warm and wet tropical climate. The property’s exceptional scenic beauty is complemented by its great biological... continue reading

Roses Are Red, Violets are Blue...

... It's almost St' Valentine's Day, who's in love with you? I have to admit I've never really been one for Valentines Day, I'm not really the romantic type and prefer to show my love in ways other than buying predictable (usually red coloured) gifts and paying inflated prices for restaurants overflowing with couples who have the same idea. Why not just go to the restaurant another time, you'll probably get better service and the food will taste better as the chef can take more time and care... continue reading

Blue Hour Photography: Tips and Tricks

The "blue hour" of the day is a beautiful time for shooting cityscapes. The sky has a deep blue shade and the lights in the city are just coming on. It brings out an amazing contrast of colours in an image. This is an image of the Alberta Legislature building that I shot in the summer of 2014, during the evening blue hour. Here are some tips for shooting photographs at the blue hour.1. Finding the blue hour time: Technically there are two blue hours, one before sunrise and one after sunset.... continue reading

Idaho Heritage: Snake River +

I am going to talk more about technique. The reason both these photos work is the shadows.        . I try to think about how they would look on a wall before I pressed the shutter button. The rock makes the second photo. In the albums there is on large rock toward the lower center that sits just of the road. It sits too low andgets cropped off when it is put in the blog. Any way look carefully and you will noticethe shadows coverthe background of the photos making both are look farther... continue reading
