A beautiful gem of a lake

I would love to introduce to all of you wonderful Dreamstime compadres a beautiful hidden gem here in East Texas, my stomping grounds.Lake Nacogdoches. It isn't very large, it isn't on the travel agents radar. It just sits quietly, a cobalt blue gem nestled in an emerald green carpet of east Texas pines.Wifey & I went there the other day, just a "one day get away vacay". Very serene & peaceful, due to the fact that although there were other people there, the other... continue reading

My Early Morning Walk Around Weymouth Harbour

I don’t usually get up early on a Sunday, or any other day if I can help it, but last Sunday was different.I had wanted to go to Weymouth Harbour, to take some photos for a long time. I needed to go before there were too many people about and, when the weather was fine. It would be perfect.I set my alarm for 0600hrs ( I know that is not early for some of you seasoned photographers but……), grabbed a cup of tea and left the house at 0630hrs.I arrived in Weymouth (located on the South Coast... continue reading

Fishermen in Sardinia

When the sea around you can not love it. In Sardinia there are many small harbors. Small boats come sometimes with empty nets. A great sacrifice work. The boat is reflected in the calm water of the lagoon. The rain in the distance forcing the fishermen to return.  continue reading

Purple sunset

I have spent one month in Indonesia, but the only one day was such a beautiful purple sunset. When the sky turned to this color, I ran for my tripod and took photos for around 15 minuts until sky turned dark. continue reading

Harbour marina and the Sigma 24-70 f2.8

Well my Sigma 24-70 f2.8 came and I was super excited to put it through it's paces.I bought it second hand as the Canon 24-70 f2.8 is still a little above my fireplace.So...early early on a Sunday morning I got up and headed out to the marina after having to get written permission from the yacht club and also the governing body of the harbour. That took me a full hour on the Friday.Make a note that when you do go to the harbour to make sure that you have permission to do so.... continue reading

Brisbane city at night ...

I had a sleepless night a few weeks back in Brisbane and as the family was away I was able to check out a few spots I'd been wanting to visit in the city center for night shots with river reflections. It turned out surprisingly successful, especially given the amount of traffic on the river on Friday night with party boats going up and down with all their garish lights - great for light trails.I found a couple of look outs that created good places to shoot from and others under the Story Bridge... continue reading

'When my ship comes in '.

Many families owned a small share of ocean going sailing vessels. Merchants owned most of the shares but friends and family, farmers and labourers owned a small portion. The practice was to sell 64 shares for a ship's construction. This entitled one to 1/64 of the money made when the ship and cargo was sold at the end of its journey. Thus the expression' when my ship comes in ' is still used today by people looking forward to the time when a gamble or investment pays off and makes them wealthy.... continue reading
