Think twice before you upgrade your camera body!

After using my lovely D700 Nikon for more than 5 years I decided to buy the new D810 body. What I didn't consider was the rest of my digital infrastructure. My computer is even older than my retired D700. In terms of our quick changing modern world: Close to stone age ...That's why my happines about my new pixel monster (called Nikon D810) decreased when I copied the first bunch of pixel monster babies (called high resolution photos) with my USB 2.0 card reader to my computer. The transfer... continue reading

It's better to invest in camera bodies or lenses?

Especially among younger photographers I seem to see a buying spree of megapixels: trying the camera with the most megapixels, and it is believed that they alone can guarantee to get good photos. Otherwise there is a search for the latest model, the camera straight out, the ultimate body. But in the world of microstock, more than ever, this trend (especially for beginners) can be deleterious. In a year - but also in only six months - the new camera body will be obsolete; there will be a new... continue reading

Photography is a physical work

Photography is a physical work. Yes, I think so. A good and successful photographermust have a healthy body except a set of advanced photographic equipment and mature photography skills.I often go out to photography with a group of friends every year. Sometimes to the plateau, sometimes to the seaside, sometimes in the hot summer and sometimes in the cold winter. Sometimes in order to take a good photo, we need to wait one day lonely...So it's not enough without a healthy body.1/in order to... continue reading

Outlines

Backlight is a very powerful tool in the art of photography. It often happens that just a simple flash settled from the right angle can show much more than a whole pack of monoblocks.I don't understand how is it possible to live away from the sea. As for me, it's like living in a house without wondows. Unfortunately it is possible to take pictures on the Baltic sea shores only a few weeks in a year. I am left to draw the sea in Photoshop at the rest of the time. continue reading

How to find your inspiration

Every artist is dreaming to find his own muse. You can spend your whole life searching for and still remain without her. I got lucky. As far as I remember the photo shoot came out quite funny. I was almost done shooting when I realized that I have shot everything in .jpg and for some reason in the lowest quality. I had to make it all over again. continue reading

Lesson number 1: how to buy a camera body

When I bought my first SLR camera, I had absolutely no idea how it really worked and what to do with it. I soon worked out that just pointing an expensive lens at something and pressing a button did not automatically generate a work of art. This was a major blow for me, as I am fairly lazy and like things to work out first time. However I persevered and with time, I got to grips with my camera. The main obstacles I faced were the huge choice and range of equipment and a lack of some of the very... continue reading

New camera body or better lens?

Today, almost all photographers who sell pictures on microstok are using digital slr cameras. Many novice photographers at a time will face ''the big dilemma'': new camera body or a good, sharp, more expensive lens?I personally know many persons who upgraded from say Canon EOS 40D to 50D/7D, from EOS 450D to 550D....WOW.... XX megapixels...WOW.... X frames/second, super mega LCD...and they use kit lenses. On the other side i know many photographers who kept the ''old cameras'' (Canon... continue reading

No Tripod? Use body parts...or whatever...

This really does not sound as gruesome as the title implies.Well a tripod is particularly useful when taking photographs to reduce the inevitable camera shake. But sometimes it is just not possible to drag that tripod along. Especially in places like shopping malls, museums, places of worship, etc. Continuously practicing using the camera helps over time to get better quality pictures. For a steady grip, hold the upper arms as close to your sides as possible, dig those elbows to the ribcage.... continue reading

Bodywork

Tomorrow I'm having a deep tissue treatment with an "intuitive" healer. I've been living with an injury I sustained about 4 months ago while transitioning from a bound lunge into a bound triangle. These last three weeks I finally stopped going to class and focused my yoga practice on cooling the injured leg and that has made a big improvement. Hopefully tomorrows experience will completely release whatever happened there. I'm also looking forward to someone focusing all their energy on me. I am feeling... continue reading

Photography is a manual labor.

Has been thought that photography is a technical live. However, when I shuttle carrying heavy equipment in the field, street or beach, I hope that I have the same block header Schwarzenegger. Therefore, health is really important, I began to quit smoking and increasing physical activity, in China, we often say that the body is the capital of revolution. continue reading
