When starting thinking about creating a book cover design, a great place to begin is by going online and looking at covers of books from the same genre as the one you are designing for.Amazon is an excellent place to do this. Look at the covers of the top-selling books in the categories your book will be in. what sort of fonts, images, colours, styles and moods do these covers have? Books from the same genre usually have a similar style of cover. As cover style is a major factor shoppers use... continue reading

Just a follow-up for those of you who read my blog on photography time.I have started to carry my camera with me more often. This photo of my best friend Brady came from the weekly trip to the dog park.this seems to be a model rich environment and the puppies don't mind if you don't have a model release!I have found several opportunities since starting this.Unfortunately I can not get the weather in my part of the country to cooperate.have started making notes in a small notebook to... continue reading
There are so many beautiful illustrations now on Dreamstime site that being on the market seems to be difficult. The goal is to put new ideas and new services for art-buyers on our portfolios.Illustrations have to be technically perfect, artistic, pretty, cute (ok, that's because I'm a children illustrator) and professional.And... what? And what's better than complete projects just ready to print?I have finished to illustrate some folktales for children: Little Red Cap, Rumpelstiltskin,... continue reading
Recently I knew that several photos of mine have been purchased through photobanks and published in books. That’s a great pleasure to know! I found those books at a bookstore – they’re very nice and I decided that I want to have them in my family library. Also I decided to write a quick note to the publishing house to let them know how happy I am to see my photos published in their books, and I also asked if I can purchase the books directly from the publishing house. The reply was YES, I... continue reading
The bookmark bar in my browser turned out to be a great microstock tool and here’s why - I have several international news agencies websites as bookmarks through which I follow what is going on in the world every day. Yes, images with people may sell the most, but to those of us who don’t have access to studio and models, we should take advantage of other hot topics like current trends and other significant world events and use them somehow. News blogs and other websites will most probably search... continue reading
February 14th is not only a day for love & lovers, it's also the International Book Giving Day!Here's a copy/paste from the FB page of this community:"Join us in celebrating International Book Giving Day!1. Give a book to a friend or relative;2. Wrap up a box of children's books that your kids have outgrown and get them in the hands of children who could really use a book or two; or3. Leave a good book in a waiting room or lobby."How cool is that? Books, in every possible form, are... continue reading
As I always have a camera with me wherever I go I am always looking for new things to shoot. Speaking to a designer gave me the idea of simple backgrounds, so now when I am out and about I find myself looking into the sky, puddles, fences and the ground more. Here are some of the results. I have put the backgrounds that I have taken so far into a managed collection here.BackgroundsOnly time will tell how much they are of use to the designers. I hope... continue reading
The cover of this book has a special history.Without going into details, this photo was not purchased through Dreamtime or via another microstock agency. It was donated to the author of the book graciously to illustrate the book. As there is a hierarchical relationship between the author and subject myself, there was no question of negotiating anything else. On the other side, I was quite proud that he thought about my photos for his book. So I suggested him a series of photos of the Peace Palace... continue reading
Тhis time of new technologies, the time when everyone is taking photographs, has created a false image in our society that photography, and photojournalism in particular, is something anyone can do. You come, click the button and it's done - as ignorants would say! This book has been conceived as an identity card of Vojvodinian photojournalists (North serbian province), to draw the attention to the significance and necessity of the existence of photojournalism as a profession, as it is seriously... continue reading
I have the opportunity to live in a vast country that stretches from the Atlantic and the Pacific oceans and my work will on occasion have me travel from one side to the other.A fellow worker also an avid photographer knew that I was heading to the province of Alberta in the area of Calgary and assumed that I would be going to the Banff National Park amongst the Canadian rocky mountain range, having been there in the past I knew that the province had more to offer and therefore decided to look... continue reading
