Who has never dreamed of extraordinary abilities to control inanimate matter, to overcome gravity, to prove that the laws of nature can be tamed. Oh yes, I will show you in a few easy steps how to do it ... no, no, no ... I do not mean closing your eyes and dreams, instead let's get ready for a photo walk.We will need magical equipment; a tripod, a cable time trigger (in the absence of an intervalometer, a friendly soul) and an object that we liven up (e.g. a book). Of course,... continue reading

I have been using Dreamstime.com since 2010 when I began to publish a book and after using their online service. It has helped me organize a lot of the images I purchased and I realized I was purchasing images that didn't display the accuracy of what I was writing about so I am starting again. I opened a new account with Dreamstime and plan to crop and use each image uniquely. I am a graphic designer and I studied photography in New York City and love taking pictures and I also appreciate other... continue reading
Media editors often penalize writers who use illustrations or photos in fiction, except, of course, in children’s books. In novels, they consider graphics support “unprofessional.”In the case of indie writers, I believe they are wrong. Here’s why.I was an editor at the Reader’s Digest for many years. We loved pictures with our stories, which were either original or condensed from established magazines. But the editors upstairs, in the condensed book department, shunned them.... continue reading
I am an author of Children’s Story Books. My books consist of mainly photo illustrations of which I shoot myself and/or use royalty free illustrations supplied by Dreamstime.com. As a Children’s Book author, I develop most of my stories over time with many thought provoking spurts throughout a day, week, or month. These thought provoking spurts include deciding what illustrations I may need for the story line. These thoughts may or may not be part of the final book, but I need a process of... continue reading
There are so many beautiful illustrations now on Dreamstime site that being on the market seems to be difficult. The goal is to put new ideas and new services for art-buyers on our portfolios.Illustrations have to be technically perfect, artistic, pretty, cute (ok, that's because I'm a children illustrator) and professional.And... what? And what's better than complete projects just ready to print?I have finished to illustrate some folktales for children: Little Red Cap, Rumpelstiltskin,... continue reading
February 14th is not only a day for love & lovers, it's also the International Book Giving Day!Here's a copy/paste from the FB page of this community:"Join us in celebrating International Book Giving Day!1. Give a book to a friend or relative;2. Wrap up a box of children's books that your kids have outgrown and get them in the hands of children who could really use a book or two; or3. Leave a good book in a waiting room or lobby."How cool is that? Books, in every possible form, are... continue reading
Thie Photography Books Authors are for you to learn and step forward on your photography, this list is not of books of photographs.Since there are some newbies here all the time, I decided to publish a small list of books I think could help you on your journey. This list is of course not extensive enough, it doesn include Ansel Adams and other classics, but they express my personal experience, all those books and authors I personally have read and have used their knowledge as a basis to learn... continue reading
Besides photography I am a writer so with the advent of self publishing through Amazon I decided to put out some novels and short stories. The process is very much "do it yourself" from typing, to layout, to cover design. So I have taken on the role of designer for the books and it has been fun to look at photographs for cover illustration from a different point of view. The first book I did was fairly easy since I knew where I wanted the cover photo to be from and I kew it when I saw it. Short stories... continue reading
