Build Your Brand

Dreamstime success depends on many factors beyond an exciting and diverse portfolio. Building a reputation for a particular style or special subject niche creates a ‘brand’. As designers become familiar with your work, they will seek out your images by searching first within your portfolio. In short, you want to develop a specialty, especially one that is easily recognizable and not widely covered by others. For example, without thinking, I know immediately where to go on Dreamstime for... continue reading

Grand Bazaar in Istanbul

Couple of years ago I visited the Big Bazaar in Istanbul. This Bazaar is one of the largest and oldest covered markets in the world, with 60 covered streets and about 5,000 shops. It's a real shopping experience! Well known for its jewellery, hand-painter ceramics, carpets, spices, antiques, leather and so on. It also houses 2 mosques and 2 hamams. Tip: Taking Care with the Use of Brandnames

Is that business man really giving a "PowerPoint" or is he giving a slide presentation? Is that woman "Googling" or surfing the Internet? Are those really "Lego" in the photo or some other brand of building bricks? Is your dog wearing a "Speedo" or just a very small swim suit?I think we could all do a better job of recognizing protected brandnames what have creeped into popular culture. For example here are some common abuses of using brandnames instead of the actual object.“AstroTurf... continue reading

The simplicity of famous brands

One of the things that has always struck me about the famous brands is their extraordinary simplicity. They are never complex, not too much sophistication and I think this is one of their secrets of success. It's enough a prancing horse to make a fast car?Certainly not! But it certainly helps to make a legendary car,as only two letters are enough to put a maison at the top. What do you think about famous brands? continue reading

Is Your Business Card as Effective as it Could Be?

With the rise of online social networking sites and virtual information exchange applications like bump, physical business cards have seen somewhat of a decline in recent years. While these new networking alternatives are certainly important tools and can vastly expand your presence both locally and beyond, the fact remains that humans are tactile beings. When is this last time you walked through a clothing store and didn't reach out to feel a sweater, or pick a leaf off of a shrub in passing? In... continue reading
