What your picture do you like most of all and why is it so?

The question is probably something amusing for those DT members whose portfolios have come to thousands of pictures. My is still not ))).Once I found myself quite long perusing one of my images present on DT. This is a fragment of the ancient stone carving adorning the portico of the Banteay Srey Temple in Angkor, Cambodia and dated of a 10th century AD.Nothing special at first sign and just 8 pixels. But I like this photo very much because every time when I’m looking at it I have a feeling... continue reading

Trip to the Khmer dynasty of ancient Cambodia

Of all our trips after coming to Singapore this one was the best. I and my husband decided just to travel and do photography as much as we can and there would be no time to relax in the trip :) [well, there was little buffer added for relaxing ;) ]I can only show you what we saw, but I can not make you feel what we felt in the 1200 years old city. Being a UNESCO World Heritage Centre this complex still preserves its ancient beauty. Who will believe that the Khmer people made the largest religious... continue reading

Temple of Preah Vihear (Cambodia v. Thailand)

Normally I'm not interested in politics but it's different this time.My country has tried to fight peacefully to recognize its rights to the Temple of Preah Vihear located on the northern border with Thailand. This temple has been the subject of a trial in which the International Court of Justice has designated as belonging to Cambodia in 1962. It turns out that the boundaries between the two countries wasn't clear that's why the two countries engaged in fighting... continue reading

Ta Prohm

The temple of Ta Prohm was used as a location in the film Tomb Raider. So it is famous and, I guess, this is the most crowded site in Angkor. Many huge trees grow on the top of ruins, just as what is shown in the pictures. These trees are in silver color. Do you wanna climb on the trees? Come on, you can challenge! continue reading

Adventures of me and my camera - part four

I thought I would do a single day exploration of the Angkor temples, thinking it was just one or two piles of rocks I'd be looking at, but I needed a three day pass to see all of them and I still don't think I spent enough time. The sun was beating down hard and climbing the insanely steep stairs of each temple was exhausting with the heavy camera equipment bag stuck to my sweat-soaked back. There is one hundred or so temples that were built between the ninth and fourteenth centuries and left for... continue reading
