Older Technology Is Very Affordable - But Is It Worth It?

In times past i've bought older technology because it was at a more reasonable price.Way back when I was young and single it was never the issue; but family costs come first. I started my DSLR and stock photography images using a Canon 400D which I purchased at a very reasonable price..This Canon gave me an introduction to DSLR and I enjoyed using it. I wanted something a bit more up to date and managed to get a store demo model of a Panasonic G6(before the G7); again at a very reasonable... continue reading

I'm so excited that my dream to have my photography appreciated in a larger manner is on its way to being fulfilled! I've got 8 photographs finally accepted on here! Most are taken with a simple point and shoot Canon I got for xmas a few years back, but I've recently just updated to the Canon Rebel 4Ti (if I'm not mistaken). Canon 7D, Tamron and Autofocus

Just a quick technical tip this week...I wanted to take a quick moment to write about an issue I had this week with my Canon 7D and the Tamron 70-300mm VC lens. For those who have read my blogs in the past, you know that I recommend this combination as a good economy rig for those getting started or simply have no budget for photography gear. For the most part I have been using this lens with manual focus for birds on a stick and had not used the AF a whole lot, but when I did use it, I noticed... continue reading

Canon EF-S 10-18mm f4.5-5.6

Most of my work is in the wildlife realm, but I also enjoy shooting landscapes from time to time as well. Since I bought a Canon 7D last fall I have needed an APS-C wide angle and so I decided to pick up the Canon EF-S 10-18mm lens.As do many of you, I went to many of the hot-spots on the internet to look at the specs and reviews which seem to be everywhere. It was touted as having excellent optics and a decent build quality so I had quite a level of expectation built up as to how this lens would... continue reading

The Software Dilema

You've worked hard and saved your money to the best of your ability. You have a nice camera and good lenses. But before you upload them to Dreamstime or even show them to your friends, you want to make some small corrections for color, contrast, cropping etc. But photo software can bust an already strained budget. What's the poor but dedicated photographer to do?Photoshop, the incredibly powerful and useful software package, is really expensive and now, if you want it, you have to subscribe to... continue reading

I'm back! -- New photos with Canon 70D

I was away from photography for the past two years, working on my other career. However, I recently realized how much I missed photography -- and I'm back. Last month, in February 2015, I purchased a new camera (Canon 70D, a huge upgrade from my Panasonic Lumix with only 10 megapixels), and new photos are on the way. I still have the same model, plus a new one, and with the lens I am using, I am working primarily with portraits, landscapes and health concepts. I look forward to eventually cash out... continue reading

Mobile and DSLR in the Same Portfolio

For some time, DT has offered the ability to submit photos from mobile devices, which was inevitable with the direction that tablet and cellular phone cameras have improved drastically from the original flip phone devices. That being said, I am a fairly new stock photographer, and I am learning everyday.I have posted photos with my canon, but I have also taken some photos with a Samsung S5 with custom settings. Some are completely against mobile device photography being listed, while others... continue reading

Good morning Santa Barbara! This is a film image taken with a Canon EOS-1N camera. Thank you Dreamstime for approving film and encouraging it.
