A case for exclusivity

I read this on a stock photography forum and I think is good to share. So:"I read a quote in the book "The 4-Hour Work Week" that I think summarizes our situation quite well...talking about why not to sell product through many distributors.."It works like this: Reseller A sells the product for your recommended advertised price of $50, then reseller B sells it for $45 to compete with A, and then C sells it for $40 to compete with A and B .In no time at all, no one is making profit from... continue reading

Weekend portfolio case study #1

I study a portfolio every weekend and I thought I'd share what I study. Not all of it, only some parts of it. I don't pick up images or artists from the editor's choice collection of featured photographers collection either....which means that the portfolios I pick are one of the least likely ones to be noticed by us contributors but they do have a crazy number of sales. Some of you may find this useful.I choose portfolios based on these points:- Artists with no message board activity- With... continue reading

Less Is More - Case In Point

The title of this blog; "Less Is More - Case In Point" refers to what I consider to be a pretty fair amount of downloads I have earned with a relatively small amount of images available...Specifically: Nearly $450.00 in earnings (523 downloads) since 2005 with a mere 31 images online. Average downloads per image: 16.87While I'm not positive that this is a great feat, it doesn't seem too shabby either. I achieved this by basically, you could say "selling out" and creating graphical images... continue reading
