There has been noise recently in the photo news about an email exchange that writer and Wired Magazine Editor-in-Chief, Chris Anderson, had with a hapless photographer who had sent Anderson a promo piece using bulk email from a purchased list. Anderson blasted back, accusing the shooter of being a time waster and practicing lazy marketing, indicating that all future emails would be blocked.I’ve managed to block a few emails myself including some with anatomical references, those from an ex-... continue reading

From all the uses that my photography has for me, the first useful contact came to me in the form of scientific support. It seems like only yesterday when the professor of anatomy first showed us the human body. It was like discovering a new universe: so many bones, so many muscles, so many blood vessels, so many nerves, so many organs. continue reading
In ancient times, Lithuania was a real Oakland. Researchers believe that in XVI century oaks were covering around 20 percent of the total forest area. Some of those ascendants are still out there. Here is a photo of an old oak which growths near the place I live. Every tree has its own history. I do not know what is the story of this particular oak. On the other hand, you definitely feel different or at least strange being near. You want to touch it and of course, feel something.... continue reading
For most of the year, I yearn for the butterflies and dragonflies to come along and cheer me up with the opportunity to take photos of the places that they recently left. However, autumn has plenty of compensations as I embark on the long wait until next Spring: All those delicate little fungi, tempting me to crawl through the undergrowth and coat myself in layers of mud just to capture them poised a couple of centimetres off the ground, and then shed clumps of soil and leaf particles from my... continue reading
As you can see, I have some experience with photoshoots with models, so I thought that product photography was easy.Last week my daughter asked me to take some pictures of crocheting she makes and sells via her Etsy webshop, DC crochet Design. She was facing some shortcomings of smartphones to do product photography. So, yesterday I grabbed my equipment and turned one of our bedrooms into a small photo studio. I have done something similar before so the first steps were easy.-... continue reading
Last week I was surprised by four niche sales of the city Zwolle, no subscriptions, fully paid. Most of you probably don't even know where Zwolle is located.Like most of you I have architectural pictures of London and Paris. Dreamstime has plenty of pictures of these famous cities. Resulting in very few sales for me. I sell more pictures of for example Beijing and Machu Picchu. The reason is probably that it is more difficult to go there. The same is true for Zwolle, few people... continue reading
It's been almost two weeks since I made my first upload and I have 14 approved photos. With an approval rating of 100%! Which in some ways is fantastic, but in other ways it will make that first rejection much more powerful. I am very particular about the quality of my work, which I think translates into that statistic.I have only uploaded about half the number of photos that I intended to in this time. But they have all been the ones I am most proud of out of each session and hopefully that will... continue reading
So having taken a week off work,to take my family down to Cornwall, England, i made sure that it was not just holiday snaps i took. Although the weather was not fantastic and we could not get to see everything i had planned the days out we had i made sure i took photos of anything that caught my eye. However i do have one little piece of advice for people.Because i knew i would be taking a lot of photos, i decide to buy a couple of extra memory cards off the well known internet trading site,... continue reading
