In the past I mainly did landscape photography. In recent years I started to take more cityscape and portrait pictures. I really enjoy taking pictures in the cities I visit. It is nice to somehow capture the character of a city. Actually the picture below of Maastricht at night was the first picture I submitted to Dreamstime. It has been selling quite well, it is now a level 4 picture. The last architectural picture sold is of Versailles. A wonderful place to be.In the meantime, I submitted... continue reading

The "blue hour" of the day is a beautiful time for shooting cityscapes. The sky has a deep blue shade and the lights in the city are just coming on. It brings out an amazing contrast of colours in an image. This is an image of the Alberta Legislature building that I shot in the summer of 2014, during the evening blue hour. Here are some tips for shooting photographs at the blue hour.1. Finding the blue hour time: Technically there are two blue hours, one before sunrise and one after sunset.... continue reading

I always get fascinated by Blue Hours photos. but did not realize the magic until I came to Singapore. In one of my previous blogs, I mentioned that Singapore looks fab in Blue hours! Oh, then I was new to the city. As the days passed, I found each different parts of the city creates different magic in Blue hours.Unlike the early morning photos no need to wake-up early. Just an evening walk is enough buddy! :) Here are few points from my personal experience. For blue hours you need to wait... continue reading
Ever since I reached Singapore due to work assignment hardly I got time to write something. However, as my hubby has also accompanied me to here I did not have to give up my hobby. We often go out with cameras over the weekends and capture the bits and bytes of Singapore :) It's a lovely city with ample options for public transport. You just plan and get started for the destination. Also you get too many options for photography. Parks, lakes, local food, gardens, architectures, sea shores... you... continue reading
I started photography with a 50mm prime. I was so skeptic about wide angle lenses and distortions that buying a Kit lens was a 'no no' for me.After more than a year I somehow thought of buying a superwide angle of 10-20mm. Still I used to make mess with most of the shots due to wrong angles. It is definitely not a cakewalk to apply wide angle in apt cases. Howvever once you are game and practice, wide angle seems to be pure bliss :)Be it a landscape or an architecture or a cityscape wide... continue reading

Today I hit my 1000th sale! Its funny how these things work out though. The image that made lucky number 1000 is of Singapore, where I currently am. Although Singapore is not my favorite place in the world (compared to where I live, Hong Kong, Singapore is vastly boring!) I keep returning, either because of work or in transit to another place. When this picture was taken I was on my way from Pakistan to Hong Kong and had a one night layover between flights, so, grabbed the camera and headed... continue reading
This is my first time writing one of these on Dreamstime. First of all I want to start off by thanking the Dreamstime community for the help and assistance in learning how to take better photos. Now I want to return to the community by sharing some of what I have learned and hopefully help someone else. I am very new to photography, having purchased my first DSLR last year. I was surprised to find out early on people actually pay to use your image. I did a little research and discovered Dreamstime... continue reading
