Years ago my dad was out ice fishing in his dark house in the middle of January. He was in about twenty feet of water and this particular winter the water was exceptionally clear. He could clearly see the bottom of the lake and everything on it. He had been staring at the bottom of the lake for about an hour when he saw something crawling along the bottom of the lake. When my grandpa Len was a young man, he had a job driving a truck. This wasn’t just any job, this truck hauled ice off of a frozen Medicine Lake, and he was an ice road trucker. Grandpa said that he always had to drive in low gear on the lake because the truck loaded with ice pushed the ice he was driving on down a ways.Basically he was always driving up hill. I will be the first to admit that winter is my least favorite time of year. Living in the mid west USA, we suffer through some brutal cold winters (like this year) and some very snowy ones.
