Photography Note #1 : Colour Displaying Problem

I always shoot with Adobe RGB colour space and have a problem about incorrect colours displaying on my mobile phone. I have tried so many ways to make my final image have the same colour displaying on both my PC (Colour Profile supported device) and my mobile phone (Colour Profile unsupported device). And finally I found the best way :)First step: I calibrated my PC’s monitor with Spyder5Elite and use the calibrated colour profile as my monitor’s default colour profile. Let name it “My Monitor... continue reading

Atlanterhavsveien

I love Norway and every year I try to learn a little bit more about this country. This year I started with, I think the mostpopular tourist route – Atlanterhavsveien- the Atlantic Road, which winds its way over smooth rocky islets.I will never forget the morning with the beautiful sunrise with incredible blaze of colour between the clouds and water … It was about 4 o’clock in the morning. I jumped out of my car to take photos, but at the same moment I felt something biting every piece... continue reading

Hobby Photographer

Ever since I can remember I've been fascinated by images and creating them myself. It has been an on-again off-again relationship however. To be fully present to a moment there have been times when the camera felt like it demanded an attention that took me out of the 'picture' so to speak.Recently I've shifted away from taking the great panoramic images that tried to take in the whole and have found instead the 'close-up'. Getting up to a small common flower blooming in a field and capturing it'... continue reading

White Balance, important or not ?

White balance is one of the most important setting in camera. It uses to create a real colour when you take a picture. Right white balance will makewhite will become white, red will become red, black will become black, and etc. Many people set their white balance to cloudy (including me), because I think cloudy can make great tones. althought not in every situation it works. Why not auto ? because sometimes auto white balance can be fooled and create he wrong white balance setting. So, one... continue reading

Bloom!

Summer blossom is peaking in our Botanic Garden that was once a Physic Garden serving the old Hospital that lay across the road from it, here in Oxford. The need to capture this explosion of colour everywhere means a lot of folk are loading up their iphones with images even as they spend quality time with their families beside the river. It feels worth taking the time out from our time outside as all too soon the petals fall and perish. continue reading

How to ruin a photo album

Flipping through faded photographs of holidays, (Kodak variety) I spotted how part of every trip for me is to 'go' to the ruins.I celebrate the past in my new destination even if it is not labelled or clear if the statues are native to the country or an import. How much of a continent can be explained by it's ruins is something I question, as this is the past and the country is a new place. When I got to the famous old treasures of Knossos in Crete, I had picked a bad day it was closed but... continue reading

Romance amongst the macaroons

A friends shop was failing.Stuck out of town and making luxury layers of cake her talents were not being seen. Then we had the idea to jazz up her shop window.Out came the coffee machine and in went exquisite sweeties. We are what we sell (she has all the contrasts of a macaroon!).It's great when people see us at our best after all it's what we deserve to look like! This is where I applaud the images on dreamstime that gleam and brighten with sharp, sparkling contrasts.Shining... continue reading
