I have recently renewed my love of photography, which started when I was a student studying zoology, geology and botany in New Zealand a very long time ago! Using print film was fun but expensive. Like all kiwi graduates, I went travelling and ended up in Sydney, working in the corporate world for many years, photographing holidays but not much else. Then motherhood intervened...Last year I got the use of an iPhone6 for several months, and found how easy it was to take many images and select just... continue reading

Great for capturing pictures of a fast moving game, or in my... continue reading
The impressively named Tournament of Champions is the last WTA tennis tournament of 2010. The event is being held indoors at the Bali International Convention Centre, which during the rainy season is a very wise move.Initially, I pondered whether I should attend or not. Over the summer I upgraded my camera, but still have no lenses other than the standard 18-55mm lens, which is surprisingly good for a kit lens. However, not the lens generally needed for an event like this. The camera has a... continue reading
Many families owned a small share of ocean going sailing vessels. Merchants owned most of the shares but friends and family, farmers and labourers owned a small portion. The practice was to sell 64 shares for a ship's construction. This entitled one to 1/64 of the money made when the ship and cargo was sold at the end of its journey. Thus the expression' when my ship comes in ' is still used today by people looking forward to the time when a gamble or investment pays off and makes them wealthy.... continue reading

Floppy of the dirt, melting of the remnant snow, Spring comes with its gentle breeze. Grass & trees open their eyes; melting ice water flow over the rural fields, nourishing the crops; birds would not cuddle up with their heads buried deeply into their bodies, they can paddle on the shining water and stroll off shore if they like.…Spring, neither like the frozen Winter, nor the hot Summer, the climate in Spring is quite delightful. In the warm sunshine, people begin to get rid of their heavy... continue reading
