I have never really given the idea of stock photography much thought, but over the years I've amassed a huge collection of photographs and finally decided to give stock a shot.I first looked at a few other stock photo sites before my mother recommended Dreamstime, saying it's her favorite and has the best photos. So here I am.And I couldn't agree with her more. But it's the community here that I enjoy so much.I haven't written a blog before, but I've read many, and the comments in... continue reading

After much time and learnings on Dreamstime, I have managed to achieve a key milestone of $500 in sales.Currently, as a part time photographer, i have a fairly small portfolio of 163 uploads totalling 286 sales. My top selling image is:Each small achievement has been very satisfying (in-between the many image rejections) and looking back it is hard to believe how much I have learned along the way courtesy of Dreamstime and it's community. Things like editorial images and... continue reading
Another milestone for me. Two hundred images uploaded since I started in DT. I have no idea of how to interpret the performance figures but I understand that it is a middle to long term project...very diffictult to go viral...as sometime happens on the web.One of these two images is the lucky winner of that title...Once again, a big hand for the buyers...who would we be without you, for the Admin wallahs, reviewers et al. and not least, the extended DT community with its spirit of sharing.... continue reading
I´d like to investigate with the user community, the contributor community and the admininistrative community, the ideas / confusion that surround the concept of similars.I can only reflect on my own confusion, as a creator on concepts and images, at the ambiguity that exists. To try and illustrate, from my own perspective again, I will offer and example:BIG EARS splitSTRIKEThis is a series about ten pin bowling. There is an ample community of ten pin... continue reading
Dreamstime is my first microstock agency and I do love the interface and algorithm, if I need to pick one microstock site to support, it probably is DT.That's why I have suggestions to DT.The suggestion is, let's meet, Dreamtime please meet your dreamstimer, let's have some activities, that will make us more a community, if we can see an expert in DT to meet us, say, an lesson to teach us how to do well in DT, that will be a fantastic new year gift to us, and that will be defenitely do good... continue reading
I've been submitting stock photos for a while now but didn't really start adding to my portfolio until late last year, and once I began submitting regularly I saw a big jump in sales.I've found it helpful to join a few forums includingthis one to learn more about stock and share encouraging stories as well as struggles. DT certainly has a great community and it's been a big help as I grow my stock photography portfolio.Last week, I was interviewed about my stock photo sales - including my latest... continue reading
The Practical Keyworder - Keywording and CommunityAs has been pointed out in a number of articles - Dreamstime is much more than just a place where people buy and sell pictures. It is a true community supported by forums, a comments area, blogs and other tools that help users support one another. When cataloging images, contributors need to keep in mind that while the goal of good keywording is to do good for the individual photographer (i.e. maximize sales), an equally important goal is... continue reading
Was going through the message boards and loved this thread-- wise answers, warm responses respecting the questioner's thoughts....Experience speaks and it helps to listen! Of course there are umpteen similar threads andI guess that says a lot about the people here ..... I guess picking fromthe responses across the message boards, we have enough good material for a monthly DT magazine:) continue reading
Anxious !!!!! That is what I am feeling ..... I hate it, I love it, I live it !!!!! All I need is one more approval and maybe, just maybe, Exclusivity ????? Its been 3 days and still in line for the opportunity to choose to be part of this Stock community exclusively. Is anyone else feeling this feeling that I am feeling ..... continue reading
