I don't know if it's just me , but I find that finding inspiration to develop new concepts for photographing is sometimes an uneasy task. For me it's mainly because I worry about making a fool of myself by developing new concepts, or disappointing those who approve of my current concepts. But I find that there are certain concepts of mine that I have been recently practicing which I see them as in a beta version, or a rookie style becauseI have no idea how people will respond to these new concepts.... continue reading

I know that my portfolio is only small and that I use my son in lot of my photos. He is amongst some of my most popular downloads. But because I have used him, so often I can see how he has grown just by looking on Dreamstime. How through the seasons the colour of his hair changes to a lighter shade of blonde. The other thing that I can see is how my own photography has improved over this timecapturing my young man slowly changing. We have been working together, (what seems... continue reading
I've recently reached two milestone with Dreamstime: Fives years as a contributor and $20,000 total earnings. I was first published 40 years ago and thus started my career in freelance art, but I never really enjoyed any real income until I branched into online microstock. I've had a lot of fun and many unique experiences over the years, but it's nice to have learned a few things along the way to where it generates a secondary income. One thing I've recently learned is the conflict between "Confidence"... continue reading
This new year has started off with many things happening for me! I have had 3 sales (one of which was my first non-credit sale!), I recently became exclusive (yay!) and I have been trying out some new photo ideas (which have not exactly panned out the way I had envisioned). With these sales comes a little more self confidence, which is always a wonderful feeling.I have also been testing out some new equipment and new photo ideas, which have not been good for my approval ratio.I will get better... continue reading
Here is my story.I have been reading about dreamstime.com approval, quality of images, price plans, payment methods, blog etc for more than a year. I got a new DSLR Nikon D5200 18-105mm few weeks ago. Saw videos about how to take good and sharp images and about camera settings in certain conditions. I took about 400 photos one day at a historical place (Lahore Fort - 400 years old) at Lahore. My real focus was to take photos that can sell better. So I took shots of wall textures, stairs and old... continue reading
I've been exited about the last few months. I have been taking a formal course in Photoshop, and have begun to realize what a powerful tool it is. Things I used to wonder about and question are now becoming clear to me. I'm learning about masking, manipulating different layers of a photo, changing the background in a photograph, isolating different areas of a photo and a whole lot more. The things I used to do to my pictures to make them look better have become a lot easier now. I'm anxious to... continue reading

I have been dreaming of becoming a stock photographer for almost a year now, and spent the last 5 months in the Pit of Dispair at not succeeding! I had been trying to get in with some other Stock Photo companies (I know, I know...blasphemy!) and after facing months of rejection with them, I finally gave up for awhile. Not permanently, but for a time. I realized I should take some time and learn a few things, and then someday I will come back to it. Well, a couple weeks ago, I found Dreamstime, and... continue reading
GreetingsI have read concern regarding acceptance ratings (which I also noted at other stock sites before I became exclusive with Dreamstime), especially amongst those starting out in stock photography. Please, don’t fret over this. There are many reasons for rejections, from technical aspects to how the evaluator is feeling that day.Just keep shooting, learning, improving, submitting, and developing confidence in your images. The rest will take care of itself. And all it takes is that one... continue reading
I have been fascinated with Occupy London protesters camping site and the amazing opportunities it provides for photographers. Also, I have been able to find and capture so many variations of images each representing it's own message and unique in subject. This has made me realise that no matter how small or large scale the subject is, there are a million opportunities to capture a subject in many different ways. I tired different angles and positions to do my best to capture each image. And that... continue reading
