5 years DT

Time runs - and I reckon 5 years doing something continuously without giving up is something to be a bit proud of. There are contributors who do far more uploads but I do this for fun - to learn - and I reckon I have learned heaps here. So a big thank you to all my DT friends, to the DT staff and of course to all the people who are going to buy or have already bought my work!  continue reading

Who buys your photos?

Have you ever wondered who actually buys your photos and what they are used for? I have. I occasionally google my own name to see if I can track down any usage of my photos, just for fun.Recently I discovered that one of my photos from beautiful Petra in Jordan was used as a cover photo for the UNWTO (United Nations Tourist Organization) 2014 annual report. This is the photo: And here you can see the report where it was featured at the front page: http://www2.unwto.org/annualreport2014... continue reading

A Great Coincidence

I am relatively new here at Dreamstime, and I am certainly not going to make a living on it.However I enjoy taking pictures, and am learning from my failures. The other day I was looking at my employer's external website, and noticed some really great pictures. When I saw the head of the communications department in our break room, I asked where the pictures had come from. She told me that they always get their business pictures from a site called Dreamstime, and they have an annual subscription... continue reading

Tagging is Everything

A lot of times when I visit Dreamstime, I don't exactly know what I'm looking for.And I don't want to wade through twenty-thousand photos in order to find the perfect one. Getting your picture in front of the buyer's eyes comes down to good tagging.Take this picture. The minute I saw it, I knew it would be perfect for my urban fantasy romance, Straight to Hell. But I never would have found it if not for the tags attached to it.To find this picture, I entered two random words 'romance'... continue reading

Composition is the key?

I'm not sure how many of you entered the micro-stock business as contributors, but I first started as a customer, mainly to get images for my web design company. I always appreciated the great diversity of pictures I found in micro-stock websites and the low rates they charged for those amazing photographs. Then, I started to create my own photos for the websites I develop and now I only buy the pictures I cannot shoot myself from various reasons. But now I would like to talk a bit about the pictures... continue reading

Buyers

Hello out there! Actually I wonder about where DT-customers are from. Are they mainly from USA? Or Australia? Or Europe (which country)? Maybe the DT-admins can show us a statistic, on the one hand number of buyers per country and on the other hand number of buys per country? Thanks and have a good time! continue reading
