I've worked in the ad industry for over fourteen years, and like most Art Director's, I prefer a photo shoot over purchasing stock. This is the uphill battle that all stock photographers face, and it's a big one.Stock photography can be dirty words to an Art Director. There is a sea of mediocrity in the stock photo world, and that's the last thing he or she wants to use in their designs.A great idea can make a campaign, but a poor photo can break it. I look for images that stand... continue reading
I love nature photography, beach view is one of my favorite subject. The photo below is one of the 7,107 islands in the Philippines. In my observation local people living in the island had a different role for taking care of the place . I said to myself why not us? That's why let's all try to help in preserving our environment to the future generation. Even in our very simple way.Thankfully, there are ways that you can travel and put less... continue reading

A couple years ago - yes YEARS! - I happened to be walking around Boston with my family enjoying a the fall weather when we came upon a movie being filmed.I snapped a few shots before getting pulled away by my family (there wasn't a lot of action going on at least in their opinion - I would have stayed for hours).I uploaded these shots in October of 2011!One of these became my all time bestseller as and editorial shot. Now with the movie, R.I.P.D. finally being released this summer I hope... continue reading

Sergiu Florin Nicolaescu (April 13th 1930 - January 3rd 2013) was a Romanian film director and actor. He was best known for his historical films, such as Mihai Viteazul (1970, released in English both under the equivalent title Michael the Brave and also as The Last Crusade), Dacii (1966, Les Guerriers), Razboiul Independenţei (1977, War of Independence), as well as for his series of thrillers that take place in the interwar Kingdom of Romania, such as Un comisar acuză (1973, A Police Inspector... continue reading
I had some recent sales lately with two images, each using the same model. They keyword search for one was UGLY and the other was SEXY. In looking at the images, it's obvious as to which one and why. While this may be amusing, there is a lesson to be learned here. Many times in stock photography, you have to be many things, and many times being a PHOTOGRAPHER is the least important thing in what you are trying to do.A good commercial photograph will be planned and thought out before the shutter... continue reading
The more I get into this game the more I become convinced that editorial images are where my future is.Not for the money of course.Commercial is certainly going to provide a much greater RPI that most Editorial portfolios.I have to emphasise "most", as there are a few editorial photographers who I am sure earn a considerable income from their ports. But for me, the reason is more of satisfaction and interest.I am simply not that interested in setting up with models, studio shots or the... continue reading
