My local council used to have an art competition every year, which was mainly painting, drawing and photography. I looked forward to it every year and everyone that submitted got in. It was a wonderful community event. The main criteria was to capture some aspect of the local area. This was the year I chose a local park where many people walk their dogs and which also happens to be a historical cemetery. Head stones and monuments are scattered about this park which makes it fairly unique. I used to... continue reading

As a foster mom for streetkittens, I just couldn't resist those cute little faces and ran behind those little basterds with my camera ALL THE TIME. That's where it all started...I have always been into photography since I was little, but it was never more than some buildings and family portraits. Untill I started taking care of streetcats. As a foster mom, you know those lovely animals will leave some day to go to there forever home. I had to have something to hold on to, to keep the memory of... continue reading
I'm just starting out. I've made exactly $4.47 from selling stock photography so far. Alas, none of that is on Dreamstime. Apparently the search algorithms on other sites are more favorable to me than this one. I'm not quitting my day job.I started out by simply uploading my best photos. I didn't take those photos for stock photography. I took them as a hobby. My hobby is hiking in the mountains, mostly in California, and finding and identifying wildflowers. I don't think it will shock anyone... continue reading

Years ago my parents and I were camping at Temperance River State Park along the north shore of Lake Superior. Dad and I went for a walk down to the shore to check out the lake from our campsite. The trail went through the woods and down a slight grade. There was a turn in the trail about two hundred yards in front of us and a little black dog came around that turn and was headed straight for us. He came running to see us and we were talking to him and dad was petting him. The dog’s owner then came... continue reading

As a pet photographer, I usually like to take significant shoots of my clients dogs. My aim is to picture the main purposes and fundamental traits of a dog breed. Up until recently I had mainly taken photographs where I had most of the control over the elements - in that most of my subjects didn't move or there was one person or one animal and rarely a mix.I am currently completing a photography course and the topic choices for my current assignment were people, places or objects. As I had previously worked on places and objects (little movement in these topics) it was time to step out of my comfort zone and take the challenge - working with a person/people... continue reading
