Today I want to ask you a very interesting question: what do you do with images that were not sold for quite some time?I think many of you received a notification from DT about images that had not been sold for 4 years. This is the moment when you must make a choice: either donate this image to the free section, or disable it.The dilemma is that either of the decisions is right. On one hand, if you just donate the image, your personal database remains the same, and when people find your image... continue reading

Hi all,As I'm starting my fifth year here in DT I started getting automated messages from admins regarding old images. The message indicated that I have an image which is online for 4 years now and have no sales.DT suggests 3 actions you can take, re-keywording the image, donate it or disable it.I can truly say that I have some old images that today I wouldn't upload, or maybe change them a bit befire uploading. It mostly relevant for image processing (which my abilities have drastically... continue reading
After some of my portfolio images became one year old I decided to try this option. Some people wrote on message board this can be useful for sales, others objected, but you never know untill you see it with your own eyes. So, my first donation was this image, which is a part of my "clothespins patterns" series. I hoped to give other images of this series better visibility. When the picture appeared in free section I noticed some pleasant things.1. Free section has it's own search... continue reading
Today, I'd like to give some followup on my "Free Images Section" experiment …A few days ago I took the plunge, and started to identify some images that have not made any sales on, and also had not really generated many hits in terms of views … Over the past few weeks [in fact 10 days to be accurate] - the number of hits on those images have been mind blowing …I've started by selecting … 1% of the images from my overall portfolio database. That one percent of images selected have... continue reading
In the last couple weeks I have examined my portfolio and designated several images as free. They were all more than 1 year old, and had no downloads.I've been surprised at the result. For example, the image to the right had less than 50 views after having been in the portfolio more than a year.I designated it as FREE just today. As of this writing, it already has 10 uploads and 140 views. The Paestum image is one of several in my portfolio.I decided to make this one free because... continue reading

Since starting to write these blogs, I have gained 25 credits. Now I am not in the business of competing with designers for their work, but if you have a project for a charity or some other worthwhile cause, I am willing to donate the credits for that cause.Just leave a message here or send me one, telling me what you want the images for, which ones, how many etc..I do get asked to build websites and such, but I think that is cutting my customers out of their work. continue reading
