Be Successful on DT: Stay Active

I took a couple months off from uploading on Dreamstime to prepare for my Russia expedition (5 years in Russia).I also took a break from the message boards on DT.I noticed that my sales dropped by half; most interestingly, my sales of Bald Eagles stopped. My images of pets also died. When you do a search for Bald Eagle on Dreamstime, you get hundreds of pages of Eagle images.Obviously, if you are not among the first 10-20 pages of images, your chance of a sale is less.Once I became... continue reading

Analysis of two months on Dreamtime

I celebrate my two month anniversary of having images accepted on Dreamtime this Thursday.I joined DT Feb. 18, 2010 and my first series of images were accepted Feb 23, 2010.I am writing this blog not for praise (although that is always nice) but to show what can be accomplished in two months and to illustrate the images that have sold.As of today, I have 493 images accepted by DT, my acceptance rate is 85% and I have an additional 28 images pending. To date, I have sold 72 images at an... continue reading

Level 5 !!!!!

Woo hoo! I just checked my stats, and this shot has just received its 100th download and is now level 5.I had wondered if sales would slow when it made it to level 4 and thus cost more, but buyers are obviously not deterred by higher levels if the image suits their needs. Likewise the percentage of subscription sales to credit sales has not really changed much either. I really appreciate having those subscription sales, as they help you to reach the next level where the credit sales earn you... continue reading

Sierra

Sierra is a Golden Eagle that is a rescued animal and is now an Embassador for her species. As an Embassador her care takers will bring her to different Bay Area schools and share about her and her species.Sierra was hit by a car and lost her right wing and now lives at the SF Zoo since she can no longer be released back into the wild.Even though she can not fly I have been told that she has no problem catching squirrels when she is in the flight cage.I was shopping at Whole Foods today and... continue reading

Eagles

I love eagles. I am very fortunate to live only a one hour drive from a place where the eagles gather in late fall and early winter to feast on spawning salmon. Harrison Mills, British Columbia is home to literally hundreds of Bald Eagles at this time of year. It is quite a sight to see as many as 60 eagles perched in the same tree! Today I took time off work to go out there and enjoy their beauty; I was treated to an extra special sight...not only lots of Bald Eagles, but also a Golden Eagle.... continue reading

Athena's Story

Athena is an Eurasian Eagle Owl that lives at the San Francisco Zoo.She was smuggled into the United States as an Easter Egg in an Easter Basket along with 14 other eggs from Austria so the eggs could past through San Francisco International Airports Customs a little over 3 years ago.Only 3 of the 15 eggs survived do to lack of not incubating the eggs properly during the flight from Austria to the US.The 3 eggs hatched at the smugglers house but the owls had been seized during a sting operation... continue reading

The best shot I never got.

I think one of the best shots I never got was of an Eagle that came swooping by me while I was on a walk through a woods. The Eagle grabbed a rabbit and was just taking off when a huge hawk who apparently thought it was his territory tried to get it away from him.I had left the camera home because it looked like rain, but during the battle that was very close to me I kept thinking I'll never get this view again. So, what's the best shot you never got? continue reading
