Long-distance running is good for health. Everybody should be able to run slowly if you are able to walk. My tip is to start running in short duration and with a short stride. Even a continuous run for 10 mins is a good start. You can add the duration by 10% every time. After a month or so, you can run for 3km at least without stopping. The trick is always run at a comfortable pace. You don't need to run very fast. The Best Time of the Day to RunGetting sunshine is surely good... continue reading

Happy Mid Year! We’ve reached the half way point of the calendar year.We are exactly half of the way through 2017, or we have half of 2017 to go, depending on your outlook on life. Are you a little worn out from staying up late to ring in the Mid Year last night?Probably not. After all, Mid Year’s Eve isn’t observed with quite the same enthusiasm as New Year’s Eve.But Mid Year’s Day can be as important a holiday as New Year’s Day.Maybe even more so.Think... continue reading
When I moved from Dubai in Nahyan Camp quarter of Abu Dhabi I was happy not to drive to the office 2 hour daily - 1 in each direction, and I was lucky because I was living in Marina Dubai (at exit of the city) and working in Tourist club area Abu Dhabi (also terminal part of the city when you pass through Saadiyat Island). The main landmark for describing location of my new home in Abu Dhabi is behind a row of chocolate shops, that are located across the Moroour road from the bus station near... continue reading
Fifty is a magical number when you're a new stock photographer.Fifty images online qualifies you for exclusivity, assignments, and generally feeling a member of the community. When Half a Century is your age, however, and you start to feel the aches and pains of carrying equipment, contorting to get the perfect shot, and spending hours at the computer processing, keywording and uploading, you quickly realize that health and fitness are going to be just as important as photographic skills in your... continue reading
Concept photography is much harder than object photography. Or at least it is for me. It is easy for me to see a hot dog or some exotic salt and think WOW! That, I should shoot right now, and go get my camera (if it isn’t sitting right next to me.)On the other hand…when I really need to work my brain and my skills, I try the concept exercise. The concept exercise is a great one to get you thinking from another part of your brain and to expand your portfolio.Go down the list and pick... continue reading
If I asked you, as a photographer what is your most important piece of equipment? The one thing you could not do without, what would your answer be?Your camera, lenses, tripod, laptop, assistant, car? It is not really any of these things. I’m guessing that you would completely miss the number one thing.You.As photographers we take a lot of risks climbing out on limbs, scurrying down a dear trail on the side of a cliff hundreds of feet above the river with all our equipment trying to... continue reading

Ever wanted to know more about what your CAMERA did to your photo? You know what YOU did but there was more? There is the basic metadata (EXIF-Exchangeable image file format, IPTC-International Press Telecommunications Council) exposed through tools like Lightroom but there is more that can be accessed. There is a free tool written by Phil Harvey that extracts a lot more detail than you would otherwise see. I have played with this tool over the past few years and it has kept up with new camera... continue reading
Joined a Gym recently. The idea was to keep myself fit. Some observations that I found at the Gym were that people tend to get their mobile phones along with them and are busy attending phones than doing their work out. I feel keeping their phones at home for an hour would be more appropriate. (for them as well as others)Then there are some who take the elevator to go to the second or third floor to attend the Gym. I mean if you are going for a workout, why not use the staircase ? (adds to... continue reading
Has been thought that photography is a technical live. However, when I shuttle carrying heavy equipment in the field, street or beach, I hope that I have the same block header Schwarzenegger. Therefore, health is really important, I began to quit smoking and increasing physical activity, in China, we often say that the body is the capital of revolution. continue reading
