Trapped inside: How cabin fever caused me to expand my photography

With snow and extreme cold weather still pummeling the Northeast, there is not much to do but stay inside these days.Unfortunately, this prevents me from photographing one of my favorite subjects -- landscape and nature (as saturated as it is in microstock, I know!)As an amateur photographer, primarily to microstock, this has allowed me to explore areas of photography I am less familiar with and spend less time photographing. It has allowed me to appreciate the beauty of things around... continue reading

Retro Fever!

Although retro is a culturally outdated style it is still fascinating. Retro style photos and illustrations create a nostalgic atmosphere and are nowadays very trendy. They awaken feelings and memories of the “good old times”.In general retro style implies a vintage of at least 15 or 20 years. There are many inspiration sources for us – just think of fashion, art, music, advertising posters in pop-art style and so on …I wish everybody who is participating in the new assignment “Going... continue reading

Spring Fever

in ohio, you take what you can get when it comes to the weather. and when it peaked at 57 degrees I was out in it full force. all last year I had been trying to, in a stealth-like manner to photograph the local pond's muskrat. and on that fateful summer day it surfaced it front of me, but my excitement was fizzled when it turned out to be belly up - had died. who wants to photograph a dead muskrat, right? so on this particular gift of a warm day I sat by the pond photographing geese and saw another... continue reading

Being left ecstatic because your image was selected, or depressed because it was rejected?Assignments are a rather difficult exercise, with an approval rate of generally less than 15% - sometimes as low as 11%. For the newbies who are already struggling to keep a decent AR and are not too comfortable with image processing, this can be really intimidating. And yet, assignments are fun and, more importantly, very educational.First of all, one... continue reading

Cricket Fever

Tomorrow will see me return to this wonderful cricket stadium for a local 20/20 (limit of 20 overs per team) cricket match. Going fulltime!

The scary choice...to go full time or not! I took a the plunge in May of this year and haven't looked back!Yes it was scary and yes I had a back up plan just in case n didn't work but it was the best thing I have ever done. I don't earn as much as I did before but I am a much happier person and I get to spend much more time with my family. Also the added bonus of being much fitter, I swim 3 times a week, I am racing my mountain bike again (I even did a 12hr night race!).I would also like to... continue reading
