IRONMAN France 2017

This weekend, I made a small photo report on the IRONMAN 2017(NICE, France, French Riviera)Athletes begin with a beach start and embark on a two-loop, 3,8 km swim in theMediterranean Sea.   The 180 km bike course follows much of the original Nice Triathlon and passes through villages and mountains (6,000 feet of climbs…).Athletes end with a 42,195 km run along the Promenade des Anglais.I walked a lot to try to get pictures of the swimming (although it is difficult to swim with... continue reading

Fete de la Musique 2017 in Lyon

The "Fete de la Musique" (french for "Music Festival") takes place every June, 21 since 1982. Chasing the sun around the Eiffel tower and Paris

 It is really fun to plan to capture a specific picture at a specific moment of the day.For example, after a long calculation with an online sun position calculation tool, I went to Paris from Netherlands to capture a sunrise and a sunset in the middle of the Eiffel tower. It was the 4th of December 2016.Once arrived at the shooting spot, it is always amazing to see the sun moving slowly to the position that you expected him to reach at a certain moment somewhere in your composition.... continue reading

Our trip to France

My wife and I just returned from our second trip to Europe visiting France this time for 11 days.Our main focus was Paris with side trips to the Claude Monet home, Castles of the Loire Valley and the Versailles Palace.We did not have to move from our hotel but found that touring is tiring having to use the public subway system and then walk to various attractions.Needless to say we did a lot of walking.The side tours were bus trips.One thing that stood out is that Paris has spectacular museums... continue reading
