Is Your Photography Art?

There is a continuing dust up between those who claim that commercial photography isn’t art and that the photos in museums and galleries shouldn’t be sullied by appearing in promotions or ads. Not withstanding the fact that most photographers that fall into the ‘collectible’ category of fine artists have at one time done commercial work. The popular blog from commercial art buyer Heather Morton has taken on this conversation over the past few weeks. Look for the Art/Commerce blogs. She... continue reading

Light, flash, and your ideas. . . . . . This is important.3.Think about why customers will pay for your pictures.... continue reading

How to do Macro Photography

When we take macro photography pictures, we have three choices of optical solution: special macro lenses, intermediate rings (extension tubes) or bellows, and macro filters, which are screwed to the lens, just like a typical photographic filter. And please remember about a tripod. It seems essential to use the SLR, because even though compact cameras usually have the macro mode, it usually doesn’t allow taking pictures of smaller flowers or insects (not to mention overall quality of the photos).... continue reading
