Colorful Huascarán during sunset

Standing on the remains of an enormous landslide (1970) near Yungay, north of Huaraz (Peru), I took this picture. I was still trying to grasp the impact of the landslide (70000 casualties) when the Huascarán, one of the highest mountains of Peru, started to glow due to the warm light of the sunset. It immediatelygot my attention. The light and the clouds were changing continuously. Gay Pride 2011, Amsterdam

Last weekend on 6 of August the canal parade of the annual Gay Pride event took place at the canals of Amsterdam. The theme of this year was 'All together now'. In total 80 boats participated this year.One of the boats I liked most, was the boat packed with brides and grooms: celebrating the existence of 10 years Gay Marriage.Passengers of the boat were beautifully dressed up as brides and grooms. Gay Marriage Bill Celebration at the Gay Pride Parade in NYC 2011

Gay Pride 2011 in New York City is a cause for great celebration as the same sex marriage bill was approved in Albany, NY.This would legalize marriage between same sex couples in New York State. Opening the parade full of color and pride.Lesbians on bikes and colorful outfits that just scream celebration.Politicians were thanked and greeted for their efforts and "thank you" signs were seen in every float or marching group.Overall the parade was festive, peaceful and very entertaining. continue reading
