Being in a forest and mostly with a photo camera, I have felt many times over that it was not I who was looking at the surroundings while my expectations to see a wild animal had fulfilled. On certain days before seeing an animal, I felt that it was rather the unseen animals were looking at me. It’s like playing hide and seek. Probably it was like that, buton the other hand, sometimes there is a point at which you see it, but one no longer knows who sees and who is seen, who is taking a picture... continue reading

Like many togs here who may have alternative income means to support themselves i have been through the ups and downs of " am i wasting my time" scenarios. Remember the main reason many of us take pictures- for the enjoyment of it-simple. I first started taking pictures and video 3 years ago when i was acting in indie short films and B rated movies as supporting artists and secondary characters. I always liked the idea of filming scenes so i bought a canon entry level DSLR, ( though now im nikon).... continue reading
I used to be a wastewater engineer, visiting palm oil mills to carry out tests on their wastewater and determine if the amout of biogas/methane/greenhouse gas is sufficient for my organsiation to develop a Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project there. Things were going well until the price of carbon dropped to a ridiculous level, which caused me to lose my job till now. I thought I'd share something short about the industry I was with through photos I've taken during work. Here goes...... continue reading
I recently went to a photography exhibition at the Metropoliatan Museum of Photography while on holiday in Tokyo. I found it by chance while filling in time between some other activities, but it turned out to be a big source of inspiration. Sometimes I look at other photographer's work and think something along the lines of, 'why didn't I think of that?' 'why are my photos not quite that good?' My brain then goes into overdrive, ruminating, trying to concoct all sorts of ideas for good photos.... continue reading

I have just received an email from Ms. Cathy Aron, Executive Director of the Picture Archive Council (PACA). Starting from today, we are happy to announce that we are officially and permanently members of PACA.In a time with so much controversy about who is honest and who is not, this surely represents a great achievement for our community. It is another... continue reading

Equipped with fairly good knowledge of words, strong sense of humour, gripping onto reality, sometimes wandering through alternatives, chattering all the time, a habit she still can’t get rid of, Alice stumbled upon photography with genuine and untrained eyes. Never wanting to grow up. Entangled in language, unreadable, untranslatable and unexplainable, she decided to quit the wordful void and inhabit colour and light. She fell by accident into the rabbits’ hole one summer day. After floating... continue reading
