Previously, I found it very hard to capture a decent pic specifically meant for RF sale. No logos, business signs, faces, etc. (well, you know the drill) and to obtain model/ property releases is totally out of question.Being an outdoor photographer, it was frustrating sometimes since these kind of pictures will never be approved for the RF section.Case in point : Geneva, Switzerland cityscape. Since the majority of the buildings here have some brand name signs on its top, submitting... continue reading
I shoot mainly landscapes. And there are a lot of blog postings and articles in the internet advising us hot to take landscape photos.I learned that we should always have a foreground, middle ground and background elements to give impressions of a 3 dimensional view in an already 2 dimensional piece of a photograph.I also learned to incorporate and use photography composition such as Rule of Third, Angles, Leading Lines, Curves and otherbasic rules to compose a good picture. My photography... continue reading
Hi all.In case you did not notice, I have 3 free images availalable in DT.I captured this one back in 2002. Its a bonfire of sort at the back of my parents house in Malaysia. We were doing a bit of cleaning and the old furnitures and other things met their end in the fire. This was taken during autumn at Nyon, Switzerland. Amazing colors and cool sunrise. Wish I had the skills back then to capture the pretty view.I tried to include a green bench as foreground to add more depth.... continue reading
The mood at this year’s Geneva Motor Show was markedly different from that of last year. The manufacturers comprising the global car industry appeared hell-bent on seduction. The beguiling and sexy come-hither was in stark evidence.is to visit the show during the press days. And unfortunately, I don’t have any contacts that would enable me to obtain a press pass. But nevertheless, the few hostesses that noticed me were indeed very kind to me.They smiled and inquired whether I wanted... continue reading
Just as any joke playing on stereotypes, it is a fairly bad joke. But thinking about it, I realize just how closely we relate our perception of self with material possessions and how other people see us through these possessions. And nothing demonstrate this more than the car we choose to buy or aspire to buy.Would James Bond still be considered as a dangerously seductive Casanova if he were always seen strugglingwith the gears of a Citroen 2CV?Long standing perceptions abound and persist... continue reading
Now that all the images that I submitted have been processed, here's a quick review of the innovative concepts (and the weird ones) that I saw.Hybrids are always the talk of the motor show. Some brands push the boundaries a bit further than others, and Peugeot was showing off its laboratory car, as well as its Lemans racer equipped with KERS.Smart goes electric! It's electric version of the ForTwo was on display, along with a "souped up" version done by Brabus (I did not check... continue reading
The "Big Three" may be in deep trouble, but that is hardly to be seen at the Geneva Motor Show (which opened yesterday and will last until March 15th).In particular, it's the luxury brands that have come out with astonishing concepts and/or new models, but even the "traditional" carmakers are sometimes delivering stunning cars. Some examples:Citroen presented a fantastic-looking concept car, the GT-by-CitroenBugatti is still relying on the Veyron, this time clad in "Centennial... continue reading
The Reformation Wall in Geneva, was constructed in 1909 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the birth of John Calvin.Calvin was a principle figure in the development of an approach to Christian life that emphasizes the rule of God over all things and became known as Calvinism. The Wall is situated in the Parc des Bastions on the grounds of the University of Geneva which was also founded by Calvin. The wall also marked the 350 years of the existence of the university. The Wall itself is... continue reading
One of the most impressive sights in Geneva is the gigantic water fountain known as the Jet D'eau. It can be seen from almost anywhere in the city and is a big tourist attraction.500 liters of water are propelled up to a height of 140 meters and at a speed of 200 km per hour.It really started out life, in 1886, as a safety feature for a hydro power generator. As demand for high pressure water wasn't high at night a safety valve was used to diminish the pressure at that time.In 1891,... continue reading
