Traveling snapshots - have your camera ready!Travelling for fun is all about exploring new and exciting places, learning new cultures and getting to know new people. When you see new places for the first time, snapshots are often the name of the game - you go with whatever you stumble upon.Consider this example from the more or less random airport of Frankfurt, where I was just passing by - but there she stood, absorbed in her own thoughts as a perfect representative of the melancholy, waiting... continue reading

Designers in my humble opinion are those smart people who know how to use the adequate technology tools & can think out of the box, they match between art & skills, tastes & goals. But in order to be a real designer you have to have a wider vision for what you do in addition to skills & art. In this case it's the ability to make branding, to see the future of your design before or while you're making it. Whatever is the business you are designing for it, you have to think... continue reading
In my last article, “Documenting History and Amplifying Voices" I reflected on the excitement of documenting and disseminating current events through editorial photography. Yet, as I was choosing the photos to accompany the article I started to ask myself, "Am I putting myself in danger when seeking those supercharged, raw and real emotions?"As I said before, maybe it's the actress in me, but what I most love about editorial photography is capturing heightened, uncensored emotions.... continue reading
Stairs in our little heavenOne island. One inlet. One beach. One path. One house. Combined create our heaven. The space and time of our childhood and most beautiful memories we share. My family and I. On our island. On our beach. In our house. It is a small house, summer house. All made by our father’s hands. All made by our mum’s faith. All made by my sister’s and mine love. Whole is circled with stairs. Stairs made of rock that my parents gathered around the house. Rock and sand. Each gently... continue reading

I heard this from Jay Maisel centuries ago. And I'm trying to do it even its a hustle - since I carry my camera in a shoulder bag and advantage of living in a small town, no one approached to say "you can't take photos here!"... They mostly like to think that I'm a journalist. I've even took shots inside of grocery stores. But I feel that a range finder type of camera would be much better choice than a big heavy dSLR. On the other hand snapshots of course doesn't cut it. I'm... continue reading

Every photographer knows you have to go to where the good shots are. Sometimes, that puts you in some conditions that are less than camera-friendly. Water, weather, dirt, falls: there’s a lot of things in the real world than can destroy an expensive camera. Getting the shot doesn’t mean losing your equipment, however. With the right preparation, any photographer can keep shooting no matter what.Protective CaseIf you’re going on an adventure, the last thing you want is for your equipment... continue reading
One of the first things that people notice about Edmonton is that it’s a small city, but it’s spread out like butter on a hot piece of toast. If you catch the airport bus in (#747, $5) you’ll see that it takes a few minutes to get into where the city basically starts, and then you have to hop on another train. Forget suburbia, unless you like Walmart, The Olive Garden and have a car to drive around, there’s not much to do. The major action in Edmonton (and also the best picture taking spots)... continue reading
