When you are on the road for whatever reason, if somebody tells you that you need to get up early to catch the golden hour lighting, your first reaction probably will be no way. However, as difficult as it sounds, I find it very rewarding to get up early either to shoot the sunrise, or just to shoot whatever objects in the soft morning light. One example is when I was on a business trip to San Francisco. Coming from the east coast, I knew I would have suffered from 3-hour jet lag. So, instead... continue reading

We all know that design is a very strong way of communication. Clean design is about simplicity and minimalism, but there's a lot more to it than you think. There is no way to separate design and content. So if you already have a great concept it is very helpful to know the golden rules of clean and simple design:Less is BetterThat's the first rule! It's very important but also very difficult. Fussy and overdone is easy to produce, but clear and simple with a good concept just isn... continue reading
Friday, 9:06 AM -A fellow county employee called the shelter for help. Her brother had passed away about two months ago and his dog, Sweet Boy, was left at the property all alone. Other family members had been saying they would take him in, but 8 weeks later there he sat. She had been going daily to feed him but didn’t think it fair to sit at a vacant house. He was brought to the shelter on August 24, 2017. He certainly did live up to his name! He was a great dog. Perhaps he wasn’t as... continue reading
As we have just gone into summer I wondered what you think of when you think of summer. As for myself I think of the corn turning gold in the fields and the fruit ripening on the bushes. In this part of the world we also have the samphire season which is a salty edible marsh plant. What makes you think of summer ? continue reading
The Harmandir Sahib (or Hari Mandir) in Amritsar, Punjab, is the holiest shrine in Sikhism. Previously (and still more commonly) known as the Golden Temple, it was officially renamed Harmandir Sahib in March 2005.I must recommend , visitor should pay their homage to golden temple if they ever travel through punjab ,especially at night. Aura of this temple is beyond yourimagination, you get to visit your inner self. continue reading
Shooting sunsets and sunrises is indeed rewarding not only as a photographer but it also touches you on a more personal level. With each and every passing minutes skies take on a different shade of color as setting sunlight passes through clouds.I am by no means an expert, but what I found useful is to go to the same place again and again and each time there would be different scene to capture. Also plan ahead before your trip so that you will have plenty of time to scout the surrounding and set... continue reading
Almost everyone has heard of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. And many have walked it or cycled it many times. I thought it would be cool to take a photo under the bridge just so that one can appreciate the architecture and engineering design from below.I know that bridges are not easy to design so, this one has always brought me good memories because of the fun and good memories of visiting San Francisco. This is just one of many reasons visiting San Francisco can be special. continue reading

Dramatic back-lighting from the sun and the golden flares that flood your viewfinder can give you an incredible image. Not only that, the mood of your photo is vastly different from portraits, there’s a warm, feminine feel to this, and your artistic flexibility is truly unlimited.I like to get these shots late in the afternoon, I generally use a wide aperature which creates a great buttery bokeh on the background. It’s also a good idea to have only part of the sun viewable and keep the majority... continue reading
