Goodbye, Azure Window

One of Malta's most famous landmarks, the Azure Window, is no more :OIt collapsed yesterday into the sea after heavy storms hit. How sad is that? & it was on my list of places to visit...Here are my favorite photos on DT of the Gozo Island arch:      continue reading

Goodbye winter, welcome spring

In our resort city in southern Russia there is no real winter.Mimosa blooms in January and in the forest appear first spring flowers. Although this year winter we were pleased with several snow days. Very beautiful and unusual look evergreen trees covered with fluffy snow.  Winter fairy tale melts under rays of bright sun and welcome spring again)) continue reading

A soft farewell....

I am whispering a soft farewell here, not to dreamstime and the wonderful people on it, but to the year 2014. This year was a tough one, as I left my home in Michigan and moved in with parents to help them care for infant grandchildren. I became a licensed foster mom, relearned first aid, cpr and potty training, learned again how to exist on only a few hours of sleep, and basked in warm hugs and wet kisses and the beautiful weight of a tiny head sleeping against my breast.I learned a lot of things... continue reading

Goodbye Tavi!

I am so sad, with tears in my eyes writing this blog.Unfortunately our dear friend and contributor here on Dreamstime, Tavi, left this world on his way to take another perfect picture. Saturday, on another weekly phototour, he fell off the ridge of the mountain in one of his favorite place: Fagaras Mountains, Romania. The mountains were his home, the nature was his mother. He always wanted to be near the sky, near the clouds, in the highlands, he always carryed his heavy photo equipment to... continue reading

Goodbye noisy skies with "distorted pixels"!

Hi Dreamers!I guess I am not alone tackling the issue of denoising the skies in outdoor shots, especially when it comes to night photography. Even with photos taken at nominal ISO values (ISO-200 for my camera) I found it often frustratingly noise-prone to make the sky brighter and richer by boosting the levels/contrast.Here are a couple of examples, where my first attempts to "improve" the skies led to refusals initially. That time I knew little about the origin of "distorted pixels" and... continue reading

Goodbye

It’s been two years and one month and well over a hundred blogs written since I joined Dreamstime. But now it is time to say goodbye as I move on to finish writing a book that continues the themes of my blogs to be published by an imprint of Random House and to concentrate more fully on my busy consulting business. In the beginning I thought that all the learning would be one-way: me passing on all I had learned in 30 years in the traditional stock photo business to the Dreamstime team and... continue reading
