10 Things You Can Shoot Right NowLike many other photographers, I’ve had slumps when I felt like I simply ran out of things to shoot. Being in the business of selling stock photos, I realize that having a vast portfolio is key to success. So these ‘shooting slumps’ can be very discouraging. Also, discouraging is seeing some of the spectacular images that other stock photographers are uploading. Seeing magnificent destinations in faraway lands and sleek business concept images with good looking... continue reading

Monochrome image based on the definition of monochromatic radiation is an image containing light of one color (wavelength) perceived as one hue.Sometimes, when I undertake to shoot something, I do not know where to start. Therefore, I always keep one rule in my mind: Try to start with details. So it happened this time too. I was invited to shoot a metal workshop. To be honest, I did not really like being there. The dust, dirt and soot mixed with fuel oil cover all over the place and... continue reading

Hello everyone,I am here at DT for more than 3 years. At first I read blogs, watched other peoples photos/work, got inspiration and obviously ideas then I started shooting. I had completed art and drawing course from some university for 3 years once in my life. I changed my profession from art to other. Then one sunny Autumn day my Dad asked me - why don't you try photography as you have some basic knowledge of art? Why don't you enhance the knowledge. Photography is a... continue reading
It's hard to believe that it's been almost a ten years when I first saw a little yellow bird in my garden eating my Zinnia flowers. I had never seen this little bird before. He was bright yellow with a touch of black on his head and wings and I thought he was a Canary. I actually thought it was one of my neighbors Canaries and that it got out of its cage. But after doing some research I found out it was the American Goldfinch the state bird of New Jersey.I was simply mesmerized seeing... continue reading
Dorothea Lange, an American photojournalist and documentary photographer, famously said that “the camera is an instrument that teaches people how to see without a camera”. Photography teaches viewers, authors and subjects alike how to discover and uncover, how to explain and to create mystery, how to question and to answer, how to search and how to find. In many cases the photography style and subjects we choose are those closest to our own personality and inner explorations. Many photographers... continue reading

I hadn’t given much thought to stock photography or micro-stock photography because as a photography enthusiast I thought it was an area where only the Pros got to hang out and get paid a lot. I’ve since changed my tune. When I received a few inquiries on my Instagram (@thisgirlwithcamera) asking whether I sold my images. My initial reaction was, “What? Really? Someone is willing to pay for my images?” That’s when I decided that it might be worth looking into stock photography... continue reading
Great stock photos are all around you and in places you would never expect. That's one of the reasons I am rarely more than a few moments from my camera bag. But, having your camera in the bag is different than having it your hand...Once you get your camera out of the bag, you have to get it up in front of your face...One of my all time best selling stock photos is a shot I took on a whim while waiting to take photos of some friends singing and playing at a small outdoor venue.... continue reading
