I started to contribute to microstock photography agencies in 2013 (shortly after the birth of my elder son). The hobby of stay-at-home mum has turned into my main job ( except taking care of my family of course :-)). Based on my 4 years experience I made a simple list of a few tips that could be useful to everybody who wants to start to make money from microstock. 1. Enjoy your job. If you want to build a new solid portfolio from a scratch you’re going to have a long road... continue reading
Some years ago, I decided to go on vacation for a few weeks during the winter. I checked the internet and found many hotels but with terrible pictures. That gave me an idea.I picked a few hotels and E-mailed them my proposal. If they let me stay at their hotel for free, I would create a beautiful website for them, showing off all the best points of the hotel. In return, they would let me stay for FREE.Out of 5 hotels, 2 agreed!Next January I flew to my chosen destination and stayed at the... continue reading

For those of us in the business, we can hire models, have state of the art studios, or travel all over the world.or...we can go where the action is.In my part of the US, there is a lot of sports all year long to photograph. For me, photography is the by product of my and Gary's adventure weekends. and often, its the thought of getting out of the house FOR stock that gets us off the sofa and out the... continue reading

It's just amazing what a single small pocket flashlight can do with images, instead of using onboard flash. One evening I was taking pictures in a dark room. My "model" was a small alcohol glass. When I shoot on tripod, I always use manual focus in liveview mode active. This time the room was so dark that I couldn't see anything on the screen in liveview mode. Despite using autofocus and onboard flash for helping camera to focus, I took out a small flashlight (not a led one. Regula with yellowish... continue reading
How to deal with burn-out….Hi everyone…miss me?There comes that day when all the fire and fun, just goes.
