Just a quick technical tip this week...I wanted to take a quick moment to write about an issue I had this week with my Canon 7D and the Tamron 70-300mm VC lens. For those who have read my blogs in the past, you know that I recommend this combination as a good economy rig for those getting started or simply have no budget for photography gear. For the most part I have been using this lens with manual focus for birds on a stick and had not used the AF a whole lot, but when I did use it, I noticed... continue reading

No matter if you shoot in RAW or jpg, some basic adjustments of your images can be done in Photoshop or other programs, which will improve the quality and increase the chances for your image to be accepted/downloaded.Here are some basic adjustments:Crop - Most of images need a crop, for a better photo framing. Also, some unwanted elements at the edge of your images can be eliminated very easy in this way.Rotate - Rotating images with small angles will correct the shooting with the inclined... continue reading
This simple tool will help to assist in the procedure of micro adjustments, and you can download it here here. It should be displayed on an LCD screen a 100% zoom setting, so at native size.It works by exploiting the interference patterns, or moiré, between the R/G/B LCD elements and the camera's LCD elements when directly viewed with Live View. With good optics and perfect focus, the moiré is maximized. Depending on shooting distance, choose the Live View zoom setting (full, 5x 10x) that shows... continue reading

I can say that I'm rejoicing at the moment, although this may sound as very normal to a huge majority at this site, or even not as close to what you are experiencing on a daily basis. However I would like to emphasize on the part that this is new for me..While I got my first sale in May, making me feel a lot happier, June had even better surprises... 2 sales...Although i thoroughly enjoyed the moments, I should admit somewhere I had fallen off thinking... continue reading
Especially cold this winter, but my passion for shooting is very high. In 2009 the last few days, I became a member of dreamstime, and uploaded my picture, now I have 23 images online. I found a great difference between Chinese and foreign, in the awareness of the picture. As a photographer, I feel I need to do some adjustments to the shooting. The most important adjustment should be re-grasp the picture. In next few days, I will be required to take some still life. continue reading
Hi all, I'm glad to share with you my last Photoshop Video Tutorial (Italian):it's about the correct use of Topaz Adjust plug-in. Everyone know that TopazAdjust easily produces terrific results: there's a kind of "topaz flu" in the photographic world. Less easy is to chose the proper setting, to know how to divide the image in different areas that need different "adjust", to use layers and their blend mode and opacity option, to get a more "natural" look.Unfortunately for the rest of the world... continue reading
Today I reached my 50th submission. It took some time to find out what is wanted and what not but the number of my rejected photos went down and the number of approved photos went up in the last months. At first I did not understand why a photo was rejected: where I saw a good isolated object, DT often saw pixels around it. Later on I learned that, when I made a levels adjustmentlayer, I could see the lot of pixels I had left behind. From than on the number of approved photo’s increased. I never... continue reading
"Like taste and smell, color is a sense that is processed by our brains in multiple dimensions", - I've read on the ColoRotate web-site.There is also suggested that "With ColoRotate, you can work with colors in 3D, in real time, and in a way that matches how our minds process color".Yes, at a fleeting glance it really seems interesting - you can use a ColoRotate 3D-model to pick out a color you need and then to adjust hue, brightness, and saturation. Moreover you can choose the color... continue reading
