I just sold my first two images. I only have 76 images in the portfolio but it helps to be in the right place at the right time. I know from past experience that a dynamic title, description, and keywords also play a big role in getting selected. In my last job before retirement I sold ads in the Yellow pages. We were always looking for pictures to fit in the content of the ad. If you can still remember the Yellow pages there were hundreds of categories running from a... continue reading

I just like words. On my eighth birthday, I received a hardcover dictionary. I sat down that day and methodically went through the tome to circle the terms I’d already been introduced to (yeah, I’m a self-proclaimed nerd). And then I would turn to a page and there were dozens more I’d never even heard of. Oh, happy day! I still have that Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary (red hardcover, well loved. Not for sale.) And today? No Google Play can download a better word game than... continue reading
In the contest " Devil of the details " (the first contest on Dreamstime that I joined), I was on 4th place, really close to 3th place and this made me want even more, to participate to the next contest. So, in the contest " Wallpapers " I maximized my chances with 9 photos uploaded. This time, I have uploaded photos and illustration with different thematic. I realized that, even if, I don't win, the contests helps a lot in making my account and photos visible by... continue reading
There could be many reasons why we are here. I can assure you many are here because they desire to sell their photographs and make some extra cash.Having joined with that good intention, the reality on the ground is not what you initially envisaged. Sales are low. Not only low, they are frustrating. And you may be thinking what’s going on?I can bet you, you are not alone. One fact we all agree and which we need to remind ourselves is that Dreamstime LLC does not buy images. It’s... continue reading
I recently used keywords for the first time and it was enlightening for the novice I am and needless to say I have several images that could have been categorized better in the past!! I would recommend anyone like myself to give it a go just to see the difference. I have often struggled with which categories are best so it's very helpful. As I have recently passed the 700 uploads mark i will add a recent image. continue reading
PART 2: THE SOLUTION FOR DOING SEO FOR IMAGES “I’m going to give you less than 30 seconds to draw a picture of a tree. Go.”Running a sketch meetup group, I prompted a café full of extremely creative artists with this, and do you know what happened? I got the same stuff back from each person: a lollipop broccoli tree. That was when I informed them how they could have drawn an evergreen tree, a bonsai, a branch, leaf, fruit, or seed, the roots at the bottom, a squirrel or owl in... continue reading
PART 1: THE PROBLEM WITH SEO FOR IMAGES “What’s in the box?”This question is asked by Brad Pitt’s character, Detective David Mills, in the 1995 neo-noir crime thriller movie, Se7en. As viewers, we never get to see the answer, what was actually in the box. Although the criminal, John Doe (Kevin Spacey), tells us, it’s Mills’ wife’s head, he could have been lying. There are other clues to help us guess: the movie genre and rating, the pattern of deaths having to do with... continue reading

I have the perfect and i think easiest solution to this question. As many of us take lot's of pictures and then have to sort through them, it is important that we capture the specific details of our photo shoots. For example, i have traveled to many places within China in a short period of time so it's hard to remember the names of everything i have taken pictures of which are needed for keywording correctly later when the images are finally uploaded. Since being in China i have taken over... continue reading
Hello Everyone!Just want to start by saying I am no SEO expert by any means! But I do have an understanding of just how important keywording is.However as I learned a great way for key wording in Lightroom that is going to save me a ton of time by the way!! (another story) I started to think about this:Does anyone add their name as a keyword? Now I know I am not famous or anything so it is unlikely that someone will search for me specifically ( I am talking more for Google searches... continue reading
