Twitter: Tips, Tricks for Photo Clicks

I have to admit, I never understood Twitter.I'm not sure I still do.I understand why people tweet but until I started at Dreamstime, I never found a purpose for Twitter myself.Plus, it's only fun if you are the type with a lot of snarky one-liners.A friend of mine, an artist, decided to use Twitter as a platform to advertise her artwork.I decided to do the same with my microstock photos.Lately, it's been resulting in a slight rise in sales and I like to think it's in part because of Twitter.... continue reading

Malachite Jewel

In 2011 I made a trip to the Gambia and this relatively little west-african country, much as it can't boast with the "Big Five" of the east-african national parks, is however a paradise for birdwatchers and photographers.A quite safe place surrounded by the much bigger Senegal, it offers easy birding and photography thanks also to the well organised guide service it has. From the point of view of a Dreamstime contributor though I can't say that the work I made in The Gambia has been rather fruitful.... continue reading

Opening Sweden - Drottningholm

Hello, dear friends!Continuing my Swedish story I remember one of our fabulous mornings in hotel! It began with surprise. After breakfast we returned to the room to take things and go for a walk. Glancing out the window, we suddenly saw a rabbit (really huge rabbit or may be hare), who pinched the grass on the lawn right under our window. I literally felt myself like Alice in Wonderland at that moment. In the future, when it began to occur regularly we began to call our window - magic... continue reading

Making Art When Everything's Been Done Before

I sometimes think that the photographers who lived 200 years ago had it easy. Photography as an art form was completely uncharted territory, so every image these pioneers created was something new and wonderful. Today, nearly everyone has a camera, whether it’s a professional DSLR or a mobile phone camera. So, with hundreds of thousands of images being created every day, how do you come up with something that hasn't been done before? How does today’s photographer create something... continue reading

Turning a Passion into a Profit

Why I love kretek cigarettes

I know, smoking is not healthy and also in this time it´s not so cool - and I agree. BUT... Some Indonesian, Haji Jamhari, discovered how to make cigarettes tasty and in 19th century he started to make "kretek" cigarettes which are loved by almost all of Indonesians (and many, many Europeans :) ).Kretek cigarettes are made from tobacco and cloves and in the past were made for people with asthma. That smell is really nice. These rokok cengkeh are stronger than normal cigarettes and cheaper. And... continue reading
