Dreamstime has larger comp images

I am a contributor as well as a customer. One of the benefits of using Dreamstime is the nice, large comp images they provide. It is very helpful. As a graphic designer, I frequently download comp images to see if they will work in my layout before I make a purchase. On the other stock site that I use, their comp images are so tiny, it's hard to tell if I like the image or not. I have to show my client the mock-up before I buy the image and if it looks all bit-mapped and low-res, it can be hard... continue reading

Using large images for greater impact

As part of our re-branding campaign - we are becoming webrandit.co.uk - I have been redesigning some of our pay-per-click landing pages using some great images from Dreamstime. The latest one uses a very large image as a backdrop for the page to create a stunning first impression - take a look at our branded umbrellas page and see how effective using a full backdrop is.Taking a large image and resizing for the web is easy, just use your favorite graphics editing suite, resize the image to around... continue reading

Large collections of photos featuring the same children.

I have realised that it can be a challenge to find larger series of pictures with the same model(s). Personally, I mainly take pictures of my children, and I have noticed other contributors who have large and varied portfolios with many pictures of the same children. So I have gathered some of these in a collection. There is one photo of each child in the collection, but by clicking on the picture, you get the choice to see more pictures of the same model. Each model in this collection has a large... continue reading

Image stabilization or Vibration Reduction vs Large Aperture lenses

The question always arises in a lot of camera and equipment forums ...Should I buy a lens with Image Stabilization (IS) or Vibration Reduction (VR) or buy lenses with larger apertures like F2.8?Of course the best answer is buy a lens with both but what if you can only afford one or the other. You will likely see most people would say go for the large apertures because IS/VR doesn't prevent motion blur. And they are 100% correct about that. But what I also hear from most people that... continue reading

Trophy Fish Photos

Not too long ago I caught my largest summer flounder off the coast of Ocean City Maryland on a head boat. The summer flounder is a flatfish that can grow to 32 lbs though any fish over 8 lbs is considered a trophy. My day fishing began as usual, I was hoping to fill my cooler with tasty black sea bass which are a popular game fish along the mid atlantic east coast of the United states. These fish are caught offshore fishing over reefs and sunken ship wrecks.Plenty of these fish were caught... continue reading
